In the world of politics, it is important to always be informed and knowledgeable about current issues, events, and politicians. If you’re anything like me that includes having an extensive library filled with political books, biographies, and memoirs. These are the top 10 books I believe should be on every conservative’s bookshelf.

1) The Constitution of the United States

Of course this is number 1. It is so important that everyone reads the constitution at least once in their life. They sell pocket constitutions that are perfect to slip into your purse or book bag.

2) Hands Off My Gun by Dana Loesch

If you ever find yourself in a heated discussion about gun control and you need some ammo, look no further than Hands off my Gun. This book is filled with over 300 pages of statistics, facts, and quotes that demolish any dispute against the Second Amendment.

3) God and Man at Yale: The Superstitions of “Academic Freedom” By William F. Buckley Jr

William Buckley was a leading voice in the American conservative movement in the latter half of the 20th century. In God and Man at Yale, Buckley tears apart the prestigious university and states they pushed their ideas of liberalism on their students. Sound familiar to anyone? Liberal bias on college campuses has been happening for a very long time. This is a book that any college student stuck at a liberal university can relate to.

4) Excuse Me, Professor: Challenging the Myths of Progressivism by Lawrence W. Reed

Speaking of liberal college campuses, this book is great for those of us who wish to strengthen our knowledge of progressive myths. Even if you are no longer in college, this book is extremely enlightening and full of information.

5) 13 Hours: The Inside Account of What Really Happened in Benghazi by Mitchell Zuckoff

This book, which was later adapted into a feature film, gives a minute-by-minute detail of what happened on September 11, 2012 in Benghazi, Libya. Even though Hillary Clinton refuses to discuss what happened that day, this compelling book will help explain the details.

6) Economics in One Lesson: The Shortest and Surest Way to Understand Basic Economics by Henry Hazlitt

Every conservative should keep a copy of this book on hand and lend it to their friends who #FeelTheBern. This book, which has become a fundamental influence on modern libertarian economics, gives a straightforward explanation of economics. Some of the lessons you can learn in this book will come in handy if you ever find yourself in a debate with a liberal about economics!

7) Conscience of a Conservative by Barry Goldwater

Many believe that this book helped reignite the American conservative movement and was a major influence to countless conservatives in the United States. This book covers topics such as civil rights, labor unions, education, social welfare programs, and income taxation. It is very enlightening for any conservative.

8) What Women REALLY Want by Ann-Marie Murrell, Morgan Brittany, and Dr. Gina Loudon

This book tackles topics like getting involved, media bias, radical modern feminism, liberal Hollywood, and the true meaning of independence. This book proves that every issue is a women’s issue.

9) Up From Liberalism by William F. Buckley Jr

Unfortunately, millennials never had a chance to live during the time when William Buckley was a voice for the conservative movement. Lucky for us, we do have access to his genius arguments against liberals in his books. This is one of my absolutely favorites. Buckley paved the way for the conservative movement we know and love today.

10) Liberty Versus the Tyranny of Socialism: Controversial Essays by Walter E. Williams

If the title doesn’t draw you in, the description sure will. This book focuses on the growth of government and the loss of personal liberty. Williams offers his controversial views on education, health, the environment, government, law and society, race, and a range of other topics. This is one book that you will not be able to put down.
