As a successful woman, having the right tools will allow you to conquer the day with confidence. Whether you’re in school or have a full-time job, make sure to have these 10 things on your desk at all times.

1) Planner

Having a planner is obvious but necessary. There are plenty of different brands and styles, but finding one that fits your specific lifestyle is key. You will need this to write important dates, daily to-do list, and any other relevant information. Having it all in one place will help you stay organized and on top of your week.

2) Up-to-date laptop

Having an up-to-date laptop is vital in today’s workforce. No matter what assignment or task you’re working on, you can get ahead in research, creating documents, and so much more with a laptop. There are plenty of coffee shops that have free Wi-Fi for you to use in your free time!

3) Business cards

Business cards are a must for networking events, business dinners, and life in general. You never know who you’ll meet and where you’ll meet them, so it’s necessary to be prepared. Providing your business card will give the people you meet something tangible to hold on to. Write something on the back that will remind them of you and what you chatted about. This will refresh their memory if they don’t just remember you by name.

4) Padfolio

A padfolio is mandatory for business meetings and even classes. Inside a padfolio, you can store any important notes. This is also a great place to keep resumes, a portfolio of any past work, and any other important papers that you may need. This looks much more professional than just a folder or notebook.

5) E-Reader

Books are great to own but can be difficult to lug around everywhere. With an E-Reader, you have all of the books you need in one place, making it easy to read wherever you are. If you need to read a book at last minute for an interview or meeting, you can buy it and have it at your fingertips in minutes.

6) Label Maker

If you’re like me, you have too many notebooks, planners, and folders to count. Having a label maker will allow you to keep track of everything and make it easy to find what you’re looking for.

7) Scanning app

Scanners can be impractical and difficult to use. There are many free scanning apps that allow you to take a photo of the paperwork you need and upload it to your phone. From there, you can attach it to any email and you’re done.

8) Binding for projects

Binding is imperative to keep in your desk. If you need to put together a last minute work project or a school presentation, you will have binding at hand to make it look its best.

9) All-purpose notebook

I like to have one notebook that I can scribble anything into. Whether you need to quickly write down contact information, notes, or tasks for the day, have a central hub to put all of your important information.

10) Flash drive

I can’t count how many times I’ve needed to transfer files from work to school to home and vice versa. It’s difficult to keep track of it all. Put all of your important files and projects onto one flash drive and keep it on your key ring so that you don’t lose track of it.

No matter how hectic and busy your daily schedule is, having the right tools will undoubtedly help you conquer it all. Before you go back to work or start the semester, invest in supplies that will set you up for success. You won’t regret it.
