Our desks are where we spend a majority of our time. It’s important to surround our work space with the tools we need to help us tackle our goals. Whether you’re about to start your summer internship or run your own business, here are 10 things every woman should have at her desk.

1) Notebook

Catch all notebooks are great to jot down ideas, notes from meetings or conference calls, and priority lists. Mine is almost a diary for my work day. I enjoy using this notebook for short term and snapshot items as opposed to my planner, that represents more long term items.

2) Planner

Try to keep your planner crisp, clean, and only for scheduling purposes.  I don’t like it cluttered with the thoughts or doodles I put in my catch all notebook. My planner shows what’s on the docket for the day, week, and month at a glance.

3) Phone charger

Investing in an additional charging cord for your work space is well worth the investment.  Only buy ones that are certified and have five star reviews.

4) Reusable water bottle

Staying hydrated is a must for a clear and focused mind. Keeping one at your desk can remind you to make a conscious effort to take a few minutes to breathe, drink, and jump back into tackling a to-do list. Ones that seal completely are great, like a Swell, so you can throw it into your purse when you’re on the go.

5) Hair ties

The quote “toss your hair in a bun, drink some coffee and handle it” speaks to every woman’s soul.  Having a pack at your desk is so simple, yet a huge step in getting in a productive mindset.

6) Breath mints or mouthwash

This is really a no brainer and an essential. Nothing gives much more confidence than fresh breath.

7) Thank you notes

The best way to remember to write thank you notes. I make it a point to incorporate it into my work day and make it a priority to send thanks.

8) Motivating and inspiring words

Something as simple as an inspiring quote can re-motivate you to work towards your goals.  There’s no doubt that work days can be defeating and having inspiring words in a direct line of vision is helpful to keep centered and ready to tackle a task.

9) A lint brush

So simple, yet so necessary.

10) Earphones

Earphones are great when you need to be laser focused on a task and want to tune out other noises.
