This weekend, President Obama presided over his final White House Correspondent’s Dinner, affectionately known as Nerd Prom. The event gathers celebrities, news personnel, and the media together for a night of high profile networking and hobnobbing, topped off with jokes at everyone’s expense. In case you didn’t get a ticket, here are fifteen things you need to know about the dinner.

1) This was Obama’s FINAL Nerd Prom

We’re all eternally grateful because he may be a good comedian, but we’re ready for a Republican to host next year.

2) Jokes at the expense of Jake Tapper were fair game

Obama said “Jake Tapper left journalism for CNN.” Poor Jake.

3) Helen Mirren came in tribute to Prince

She wore a purple gown and a temporary Prince tattoo. Helen Mirren and Prince make the strangest friendship I can imagine, but whatever works for you.

4) Kendall Jenner was there

Is she a politician? Is she an actress? Is she a journalist? Yeah, I can’t figure out why she was there either.

5Michelle Obama wore a very 1% dress

Swarvoski crystals on a Givenchy dress? Don’t tell Bernie Sanders, because she looked like the reigning queen of the 1%.

6) Obama questioned the value of change

We all chuckled when he said, “Eight years ago I said it was time to change the tone of our politics. In hindsight, I clearly should have been more specific.”

7) There was no Donald Trump

and jokes were made at his absence.

8) Bernie Sanders was there

He needs all the Hollywood support he can get, especially after Hillary’s expensive George Clooney fundraiser.

9) Larry Wilmore tried to be funny

When the Harvard-educated “nerd” President is funnier than you, the professional comedian, it might be time to consider a career change.

10) Someone actually gave props to Mitch McConnell

Seriously, you gotta give Mitch McConnell credit. At this point, he could block LeBron James. He’s unbelievable.” Savage.

11) Carrie Fisher brought her dog as her date

Proving that even Princess Leia gets us basic girls in 2016. The French Bulldog stole the show. His name is Gary.

12) Obama’s clearly a Hillary guy

He made that very clear with, “Next year at this time, someone else will be standing here in this very spot. And it’s anyone’s guess who she will be.” Do you think Vice-Presidents can host the event, Carly?

13) This was really just a pregame for the Met Gala

I mean, sure we all wanted to see what everyone was wearing, but we know that the Met Gala, a few days later, was the real fashion event of the year.

14) A comedian called Obama the N-Word

Obama seemed to be weirdly okay with it, but a lot of other prominent black celebrities came out in critique of the comment.

15) He ended with a literal mic drop

The microphone was in his hand, and then he dropped it. Clearly, even after eight years in the White House, he’s been able to keep up with the times.
