The appointments continue to keep rolling in for the budding Trump administration. President-Elect Donald Trump has announced that Wilbur Ross Jr, a notable investor and businessman, will serve as his Secretary of Commerce.

In a statement, Trump said, “Wilbur Ross is a champion of American manufacturing and knows how to held companies succeed. Wilbur knows that cutting taxes for working families, reducing burdensome government regulations and unleashing America’s energy resources will strengthen our economy at a time when our country needs to see significant growth.”

While we wait for Trump to fill the rest of his Cabinet and Senate confirmations to take place, here are fifteen things to know about Wilbur Ross, the new Secretary of Commerce.

  1. Wilbur Ross was born in New Jersey in 1937. He will be 79 when Trump takes office.

  2. Ross is currently the Chairman and Chief Strategy Officer for WL Ross & Co LLC

  3. Ross attended Yale University for undergrad and Harvard for his MBA. He considered being a fiction writer while he was at Yale.

  4. Growing up, his father was a judge and his mother was a school teacher.

  5. Ross served as the Executive Managing Director of Rothschild Inc, a huge financial advisory group, for 24 years.

  6. While he was a vocal Trump supporter, Ross has been a long-time registered Democrat and even worked under President Bill Clinton

  7. Ross initially supported Marco Rubio in this eletion, but gave $200,000 to the Trump Victory Fund in July.

  8. As of December 8th, 2016, Forbes estimates Ross’ net worth at $2.5 billion

  9. Ross has been married three times and has two children.

  10. He served as the leader of the “secret Wall Street fraternity” Kappa Beta Phi, a group that has also included Michael Bloomberg and former Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin.

  11. His business profile describes Ross as a “skilled negotiator” and an “expert in the bankruptcy process”

  12. One of his “skilled negotiations” included the bringing together of LTV Steel, Bethlehem Steel, and Acme Steel as the International Steel Group.

  13. Ross is a Palm Reach resident and his estate is just up the road from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago, according to Forbes.

  14. He was married to the former New York lieutenant governor Betsy McCaughey. McCaughey was lieutenant governor under Governor George Pataki, who was one of the initial candidates who ran against Trump this cycle.

  15. Ross will take over the Commerce position from Penny Pritzker, who is a member of the Pritzker, which owns Hyatt Hotel, the Marmon Grup, and used to own the Royal Carribean Cruise Line,who has an estimated net worth of $2.4 billion.
