Skip the salon — there are tons of ways to achieve a glamorous look at home using DIY beauty hacks! Here are 8 incredibly easy tips you can use today to vamp up your look.

  1. For long lashes, apply Vaseline or castor oil to your lashes before bed

Before going to bed, use a Q-tip or cotton swab to apply a small amount of castor oil or Vaseline to your upper lash line. Both of these products condition and moisturize lashes, allowing them to grow longer and thicker. Avoid getting any product in your eye, as this could cause irritation! Remove the product in the morning.

  1. For smooth lips, apply some honey to your lips before bed

Honey moisturizes the lips and acts as a natural exfoliate. Apply a layer of raw honey to your lips before bed to make them smoother, healthier, and brighter. Try to find some dark honey (i.e. buckwheat honey), as dark honey has the most antioxidants. Wash away the honey with water in the morning.

  1. Use coconut oil as a natural alternative to highlighter

Don’t feel like wearing makeup? No problem! You can still bring attention to your cheekbones by applying coconut oil to them. Apply a dime-sized amount of coconut oil to a beauty blender and tap it along the high points of your face for a luminous look!

  1. For longer lasting mascara, put some contact solution in the tube

When your mascara tube starts to dry out or get clumpy, put a few drops of contact solution in it. This will revive the formula and make for a smoother application!

  1. To mitigate damage, apply leave-in conditioner to your hair before swimming

Sun, salt, and chlorine can dry out your hair and damage it over time. If you’re headed to the pool or beach, apply some leave-in conditioner first. Your hair will absorb the conditioner rather than chemicals in the chlorine or salt water.

  1. For a longer lasting scent, apply Vaseline before fragrance

Rub some Vaseline on your pulse points (wrists, backs of knees, inside elbows, nape of neck) before spritzing perfume on them. This will hold the scent so you can smell great all day!

  1. For gorgeous smelling hair, apply fragrance to your hairbrush

Lightly spritz your hairbrush with perfume, and work the brush through your hair. Avoid applying too much product, as this could dry and damage your hair. A gentle spritz will do the job.

  1. For voluminous hair, apply dry shampoo before bed

Contrary to popular belief, bedtime is the best time to apply dry shampoo. This will give the product time to absorb oils that your scalp secretes overnight and also any sweat or odors. When you roll around in your sleep, you’ll really allow the product to work itself into your hair and you’ll wake up with clean, voluminous locks!
