It may seem difficult to find the time to exercise and eat healthy when your schedule is so busy. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle can be challenging, especially when you have work, school, and your social life to balance. However, incorporating healthy habits into your busy schedule is easier than you think.

  1. Planning is essential if you want to live a productive life. Every Sunday, write down what you have to do throughout the week, and save at least thirty minutes per day for exercising. Think of your workouts as important meetings that you cannot cancel. Make your health a priority, and you will see just how much happier and healthier you can become.

  2. Use exercise as a stress reliever. A Harvard study reports that just thirty minutes of exercise a day will relieve stress. Pick an exercise routine that you enjoy doing and going to the gym will not seem like a hassle. This will leave you feeling refreshed and ready to take on the rest of your day. If you cannot leave your schoolwork behind for thirty minutes, then take your notes to the gym and study while walking on the treadmill. Feel free to take your friends with you to the gym, as well, if you feel like your schedule is too busy to see them that day. Find a routine that works for you and do not waiver from it.

  3. Meal prep. Set aside time out of your week to make a grocery list that consists of healthy options. Eating healthy will not work if you do not like the food that you fix, so try different recipes until you find your favorites. Then take time on Sunday to meal prep and cook your meals for the week. Pack yourself a healthy lunch in the morning before leaving for work or school. When you already have your healthy options ready, you will not be tempted to get fast food when you are too tired or too busy to cook. Let’s face it, it is so easy to choose an unhealthy option when you have had a long day at work or school; meal prepping makes it easy.

  4. Balance is everything. If your friends want to go out to eat one night, you should go. If you cannot make it to the gym one day, do not stress over it. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is important, but a balanced lifestyle is just as important, if not more.

  5. Treat yourself. You cannot spend every day eating healthy and exercising and not treat yourself every now and then.

  6. Be proud of yourself. No matter if you went to the gym everyday or only ate three healthy meals that week; be proud of what you do end up accomplishing. If you are working hard and trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle then that is commendable. Do not think of eating healthy and exercising as a trend, think of it as a lifestyle.
