Taking time to relax may be one of the more difficult things to do in life for young women who are working hard to accomplish their goals.  Our calendars are full and the to-do lists are long. It can be easy to get caught up in the hustle and forget to take a step back to breathe at the end of the day. In order to help you get started, here are 5 ways to relax, or at least try to.

Take a bubble bath

This one can be combined with a few of the tips below (see numbers 2 and 4) to create the best experience, but who doesn’t love a good bubble bath? It’s the easiest way to get yourself to stay in one place for long enough to collect your thoughts and catch your breath.

Add in a bath bomb like these to top it off.

Put on a face mask

Facemasks seem to be more popular than ever. They are a great way to take time to not only take care of yourself but also keep your skin in check after a crazy day. With so many different kinds of masks, you are able to customize it to what you need. Taking the time to put on a face-mask might be the first time all day you focus on something completely about you.

Channel your inner child

Get your creative juices flowing and allow yourself to focus on creating an image with coloring. By focusing on something outside of your normal to do list, you can help your brain unwind and process everything from the day while also cutting down on stress. Color your way to relaxation with coloring books like this one.

Read a good book

Reading a book for pleasure is a great way to unwind at the end of the day. When it is not for school or work, you are able to unwind and truly enjoy it. It is also a good replacement for scrolling through social media right before bed as it will help you relax and help you avoid the harsh light from your phone.

If you need recommendations, FFL has you covered. You can check out book reviews, lists, and recommendations here.

Exercise

Exercise does not have to be stressful and can be a great way to cut down the stress and help your body relax. Whether it is a long walk, a run, or a weight lifting session, moving your body is a great way to unwind after a long day or week. It will also set you up to feel more energized and ready to tackle your to do list.

Relaxing is difficult and these are just a few ways you can start incorporating relaxing practices into your life to help you get better at it. Just remember you do not have to be perfect at it. Even an attempt is better than nothing at all. Now, pick one from the list and start relaxing today!
