After what seems like a million years of waiting, Duchess Meghan Markle, an American actress, has welcomed her first son with Prince Harry.

Per their Instagram account, @sussexroyal, Markle and Harry welcomed their son early Monday morning. He weighed 7 pounds 3 ounces.

“We are pleased to announce that Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their firstborn child in the early morning on May 6th, 2019. Their Royal Highnesses’ son weighs 7lbs. 3oz,” the Instagram post announced. “The Duchess and baby are both healthy and well, and the couple thank members of the public for their shared excitement and support during this very special time in their lives.”

In a press conference, Prince Harry said that he was “over the moon” to welcome his son into the world and expressed his awe at his wife. It was absolutely adorable to see how happy it was, if I can be a bit biased! It was also announced that photos will be revealed on Wednesday.

A name has not yet been announced, but that hasn’t stopped people from guessing. Some of the most popular guesses are Charles, after Harry’s father, the next King of England. Based on my experience with the royal family, I’m placing my bets of Charles, James, Henry (after Harry himself), or Philip. Markle and Prince Harry married last May and have experienced their intention to keep the birth a private matter. Markle probably won’t be stepping out on the steps of the hospital to show off the newborn like Prince William and Kate Middleton did with their children.

Their son is the seventh in line to the throne, behind Harry’s father Prince Charles, his older brother Prince William, William’s three children, and Harry himself. It is unlikely the child will ever hold the throne, though his official title will be announced soon.
