News broke in the past week of an art exhibit in DC where a model who looks like Ivanka Trump is seen vacuuming a pink carpet continuously as visitors to this exhibit throw crumbs for her to clean.
The exhibit is sponsored by CulturalDC and their website states that their mission is:
“CulturalDC sees the arts as a driving force in building sustainable communities. We provide a wide range of programs and services that support artists’ ability to live and work in the city. We give audiences access to affordable and accessible cutting-edge visual and performing art from artists living and working today.”
It’s amazing to me that their mission seems so empowering to those who may not have the chance to have an exhibit anywhere else yet this Ivanka Trump lookalike exhibit is the least empowering thing I’ve ever seen. In fact, it is downright insulting to women. Some might even argue it is incredibly sexist. It truly highlights the hypocrisy surrounding women.
Here is an excerpt from the CulturalDC press release on the exhibit:
“Inspired by a figure whose public persona incorporates an almost comically wide range of feminine identities — daughter, wife, mother, sister, model, working woman, blonde — Ivanka Vacuuming is simultaneously a visual celebration of a contemporary feminine icon; a portrait of our own relationship to that figure; and a questioning of our complicity in her role-playing”
This isn’t funny. It’s not clever. It’s downright sexist. This is being applauded by those on the left because it’s in line with their agenda.
Many on the left have criticized Ivanka Trump for not getting to her father, President Trump, on certain issues. What is ironic about that is Ivanka Trump has done so many things that you would think Democrats or liberals would be happy to hear.
She has meet with Planned Parenthood’s President Cecile Richards.
She has publicly discussed her history with postpartum depression.
Ivanka even applauded Oprah’s #MeToo speech at the Golden Globes and supported the Times Up movement.
In addition, she’s done tremendous work with involving more young girls in STEM fields.
Ivanka Trump has played a pivotal role in her father’s administration and brings the cool-headed, open-minded, and definitely middle of the road kind of voice that needs to be heard in any administration.
This exhibit shows the hypocrisy on the left of how people view women. It is clearly impossible for anyone to acknowledge all the great things Ivanka Trump has done and a presence she has been in the White House. They result to what they call “humor” and degrade her.
There isn’t a thing about this exhibit that is thought provoking, funny, or empowering.
Ivanka Trump even responded on Twitter by saying:
Women can choose to knock each other down or build each other up. I choose the latter. https://t.co/MFri4xKhNI
