It’s not easy being a conservative woman, but here at Future Female Leaders, we try to make it easier. That’s why we’re excited to recommend a book built around empowering conservative women written by a conservative woman. No matter where you are on your journey as a conservative woman, I believe you’ll find some great takeaway from Penny Young Nance’s book Feisty and Feminine: A Rallying Cry for Conservative Women.

For a bit of background, Penny Young Nance is the CEO and President of Concerned Women for America. CWA, as they are known, is the nation’s largest public policy women’s organization. Nance is a nationally recognized pro-life leader and serves on President Trump’s Life Advisory Council.  She has also founded Kids First Coalition, a nonprofit based on educating Capitol Hill, the media, and everyday citizens about issues related to children and their well-being. She is a graduate of Liberty University, a wife, and mother to two children. Nance decided to write Feisty and Feminine because she saw a great need for it. Women were being told what they could and could not be by the partisan media. She wanted to take a real, honest look at what it means to be a conservative, Christian woman.

As she writes in her books, Today’s conservative women are intelligent, well-educated, compassionate, accomplished, funny, and fearless—and it’s time for us to stand up and be heard.” Her book encourages women to do just that.

With chapters that talk about sexual assault, marriage, abortion, Islamic extremism, and Israel, Penny Young Nance takes a look at the key tenets of conservatism and how they manifest in the real world through the eyes of a woman looking out for other women. How can we as women help prevent sexual assault on campus without buying into victim blaming? How has the decline in marriage shaped our society and how will it shape us? What can we do to be champions for life at every stage? These are some of the questions Penny explores in her book. It’s a short read, less than 200 pages, but it’s full of devotions to God, devotions to conservatism, and devotions to America. Penny clearly loves her country and has spent her life dedicated to being a champion for conservatism and for women. It shows in these pages. Plus, the book features praise from such conservatives as Jim Daley, Ben Carson, and Mike Huckabee.

If you’re a conservative woman struggling to find her place in the world, pulled by God and duty and so many other factors, give this book a read. It’ll open your heart and your mind. The book Feisty and Feminine will not only get you thinking but reassure you that you are not alone.
