We often hear about the pink wave and year of the woman in glossy women’s magazines, and while it is largely been associated with the Democratic party, Republican women are also motivated to step up and run to enact positive change in their state and their communities. Meet the three Republican women who are running for Attorney General of their state this November.

Leslie Rutledge

Running for: Attorney General of Arkansas

Leslie Rutledge

Leslie Rutledge is the current Attorney General of Arkansas, since  January 13th, 2015. She is the first woman to elected into the office. Rutledge was appointed deputy counsel for Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee and later worked on Huckabee’s 2008 presidential election as the Legal Counsel. She then went on to become the deputy counsel for the National Republican Congressional Committee then transitioned to the Republican National Committee (RNC) counsel. Ashley Moody

Running for: Attorney General of Florida

Ashley Moody

Ashley Moody served as a judge for the 13th Judicial Circuit Court in Florida. She took office in 2007 and later resigned in 2017 to run as Attorney General for the state of Florida. The incumbent Attorney General, Pam Bondi, gave her full endorsement for Moody, “I don’t think there could be a more qualified candidate for Attorney General in the entire state of Florida I wholeheartedly support Ashley, and I’m proud of her for wanting to sacrifice so much for our state.” To learn more about Moody, and her campaign, click here.

Erika Harold

Running for: Attorney General of Illinois

Erika Harold

Erika Harold is the Republican nominee for Illinois Attorney General in the 2018 midterm election. She was Miss Illinois 2002 and then went on to become Miss America in 2003. Harold graduated from University of Illinois with a B.A. in political science and later received her J.D. from Harvard Law School. She worked as the Youth Director for the Republican campaign of Illinois Governor candidate Patrick O’Malley and worked on the Bush campaign to reach out to the minority voters.
