I am really trying to be happier. That means changing my environment sometimes, eschewing old breakup songs I used to listen to and seeking out songs that make me say “wow, I love love” or “What a great country we live in” or even “Ugh, yes, I feel moved by this.”

We live in a world where politics and identity often divide us. We argue over tweets and about big issues and little ones. We judge ourselves and we judge others. We are racing against ourselves. But sometimes, we need to slow down and listen to something that will restore our faith in humanity–in friendship, in love, in ourselves.

Here are ten songs that do just that.

Get Along by Kenny Chesney

Brave by Sara Bareilles

It’s Nice to Have a Friend by Taylor Swift

10,000 Hours by Dan + Shay and Justin Bieber

You’ll Never Walk Alone by Josh Groban
