Republican women lawmakers join protestors in support of freedom for Cuba

Several GOP lawmakers, including Congresswomen Maria Elvira Salazar and Nicole Malliotakis, joined Cuban-Americans seeking freedom from the communist regime in Cuba. The rally took place near the White House, where the lawmakers and pro-democracy protestors called on President Biden to take action in support of freedom for Cuba.

Nikki Haley calls on U.S. to boycott 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics

Nikki Haley, former ambassador to the United Nations, called for the United States to boycott the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. An outspoken critic of the Chinese government, Haley believes it is important for the U.S. to abstain from next year’s games because of the human rights abuses carried out by the Chinese government. While she does not foresee the move to effect instant change, she notes that the boycott would send a message that these abuses by the oppressive communist regime in China are not tolerated by the U.S. Other lawmakers and human rights groups have echoed her calls and asked for the games to be moved to a different country.

Bipartisan measure led by Senator Joni Ernst passes through the Senate in a unanimous vote

An effort by Senators Joni Ernst and Jeanne Shaheen to pass a measure “to protect Afghan civilians who assisted the U.S. mission in Afghanistan” successfully made its way through the Senate in a unanimous vote this week.
