Today is Veterans Day, the one day a year where we remember, celebrate and honor America’s veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good. But it’s easy to get caught up in the parades and festivities, and not show your personal gratitude to those who have and are currently serving. So, to help you make a little difference this Veterans Day, here are 5 ways to show your gratitude this year.

1) Visit Your Local Veteran’s Hospital

Bake some cookies, visit, and chat with the patients at your local Veteran’s Hospital. Your time and company will mean more to them than you can imagine, and you’ll probably learn more about our country and troops than you will in a whole year of high school history.

 2)Donate to the USO

This Veterans Day marks the three-year anniversary of the USO’s Every Moment Counts campaign. An $11 donation provides things like 34 phone calls home, three free meals at a USO center, 70 cups of coffee and so much more. To make an $11 donation to the USO, visit

 3) Get Your Hair Cut

On Veterans Day, customers who come in for a haircut at any U.S. Great Clips salon will receive a free haircut card to give to an active/inactive/retired military member of any branch, including the National Guard.

 4)  Say “Thank You”

Just saying “Thank you” to every current and past military member you see will make a great impact. And remember to show your gratitude every day of the year, not just Veterans Day. Without our courageous Vets and troops, our country would not be this incredible place that I am proud and blessed to call Home.
