If you’ve turned on the television in the last four years, you’ve heard lies spewing out of the mouths of reporters about President Trump. Most of them would make more sense if they actually said “orange man bad” instead of trying to convince viewers that Trump is the worst president in the nation’s history. President Trump has called out the media and their “fake news” many times, but he’s still a common topic of lie-filled reporting. The closer we get to November, the more blame the president receives. Let’s break down 5 outright lies of the mainstream media surrounding Trump and his presidency. 

President Trump is racist and xenophobic

During the Trump Presidency, African American, Hispanic American, and Asian American unemployment have reached the lowest rate in history. Trump also implemented criminal justice reform through the First Step Act. He has worked on bipartisan criminal justice reform throughout his presidency. President Trump signed an executive order to address police brutality in June 2020 after the death of George Floyd.  He also implemented the White House Hispanic Prosperity Initiative, which works to improve the educational and economic opportunities for Hispanic Americans. Recently, President Trump announced a plan to classify ANTIFA and the KKK as terrorist organizations. He also announced that he supported making Juneteenth a federal holiday, and planned to create more business opportunities for Black Americans. Also, President Trump’s wife is an immigrant. President Trump has made history during his presidency by meeting with other leaders, such as Kim Jung Un, moving the Israel embassy to Jerusalem, and securing Israeli peace treaties. 

President Trump mishandled the coronavirus outbreak

Shortly after learning about the pandemic, President Trump banned travel to China, where the outbreak started. President Trump also made the difficult decision to close the economy, putting the health of the American people first. All branches of government worked together to provide stimulus checks and additional unemployment dollars to those impacted by the crisis. Local and state officials have more control on their response to the outbreak, but President Trump has gotten the heat from angry citizens. State and local governments have implemented mask mandates, curfews, and closed economies. This is at no fault of the president. Additionally, pandemics are few and far between. President Trump has put the American people and their health first by providing information when he has it, and putting America first during this crisis. In addition, he launched Operation Warp Speed to fast track a COVID vaccine. 

President Trump is sexist

Almost half of the White House staff are women (216 women to 234 men), including 146 political appointees, 181 staff members on the president and first lady’s staff, 26 on the vice president’s staff, and 9 on the vice president’s wife’s staff. Half of the national security council staff are women. Women’s unemployment also reached the lowest rate in 65 years. Trump directed over $200 million per year for technology education grants for women in STEM. He has also created 4.3 million new jobs for women. President Trump also recently announced that he is appointing Amy Coney Barrett, a woman, to the Supreme Court. 

President Trump doesn’t care about poor Americans

During the Trump Administration, unemployment has reached a record low for minority groups and Americans without high school diplomas. Trump worked to reform Medicare to put a stop to hospitals overcharging low-income seniors for their medicine. President Trump has also cut taxes across the board, putting more money back into the pockets of Americans. According to the U.S. Census, the number of Americans living in poverty has decreased since Trump was elected. This can be attributed to his increase in jobs, and decrease in taxes and regulations.

President Trump is homophobic

President Trump is the first president in U.S. history to be pro-LGBTQ+ from his first day in office. He appointed the first openly gay cabinet member, Richard Grenell, to be Acting Director of National Intelligence. The Trump administration launched a campaign to decriminalize homosexuality in nations where it is still illegal in 2019. President Trump also initiated the “Ending the HIV Epidemic” plan to fight against HIV/AIDS.
