There is never a bad time to get involved in the pro-life movement. Since Justice Anthony Kennedy announced his retirement from the Supreme Court, now is truly the time to begin, or continue, the fight for life. Below are a few incredible organization engaging the public to help create an America where abortion is not only illegal, but unthinkable.
Founded in 1968, NRLC is America’s largest and oldest pro-life group. NRLC focuses on educating the public, as well as promoting pro-life values involving protecting the dignity of life from abortion, euthanasia, assisted suicide, and infanticide. There work is done through numerous chapters and state affiliates, which include pro-life organizations in all fifty states, as well as groups more focused on specific demographics, such as National Teens for Life and African Americans for Life.
Formerly known as American Collegians for Life, this institution focuses their efforts on fostering a pro-life atmosphere at various schools and campuses around the US. Although many assume that by students, they just mean college students, that is not correct. SFLA has various chapters at high schools, middle schools, and even graduate programs such as law or medical school. However, if you’re not a current student, don’t worry, you can still get involved in this amazing organization through donations or applying for a job with SFLA.
Founded just this past May by millennial Devin Sena, HDI works primarily through social media and article writing by young people to help foster a culture of life. You can get involved by by visiting their website and applying to be a contributor, as well as donating to the cause.
Did you know that many of the Suffragettes, including Susan B. Anthony, were adamantly pro-life? SBA List, in honor of its namesake, seeks to help elect pro-life women and men at all levels of U.S. governance through voter education, issue advocacy, direct lobbying, and grassroots campaigns. They also have a list of resources for pregnant women on their website. In addition, they also have resources for women who are hurting from a past abortion. In terms of how you can get involved, SBA List offers a variety of ways you can test the pro-life credibility of candidates in or running for office, so that you can select the strongest candidate possible and vote those who do not respect the dignity of life out of office.
Unlike many of the organizations listed, Heartbeat International is taking the fight for life across borders. This institution was established in the 1970’s by Dr. John Hillabrand, a Ohio native and OBGYN, along with Lore Maier, a refugee from Nazi Germany. Their primary goal is to network and coordinate for crisis pregnancy centers and hotlines around the world. Currently, the organization serves over 2,500 women’s clinics, maternity homes, and non-profit adoption agencies on all six continents. On their website, they have resources for those who want to help them fight the good fight around the world, by way of engaging your local community in the fight against abortion.
