As young women, we are passionate about the things we do, and often about our jobs. However, there may come a time when you begin to question what you are doing with your organization, and why it matters. This is 100% normal, and it is okay to have these thoughts. At the end of the day, if there are some regular occurrences that not positive for you, and perhaps your organization, it might be time to leave. It may not be easy for you to leave, but it might be the right thing for you to do.

You are not adequately supported

If you are not adequately supported in your job, it might be time for you to leave. You deserve to be supported in your role as you work to further the mission of the organization you are working for. I would recommend to take a step back, and truly evaluate if you are being supported or not. You may be supported by your boss in a way that you did not previously recognize.

There is no room for advancement

If you are at the height of your advancement at your job, it might be time for you to leave. You don’t want to be in a position where there is no room for growth in a professional sense. As young and empowered women, we want to succeed as much as possible in the workforce if that is the path we are on.

Your organization is not ethically operating

If you come to find out that your organization is not ethically being run, you might want to consider finding a new job. You do not want to be in a position where you are forced to testify because of your job. If you have an exit interview with HR prior to you leaving, you might share your concerns if you feel comfortable doing so.

You know that salaries are about to be cut

If you happen to know that salaries are about to be cut, you might want to begin your job search. Additionally, if you have a family to support, this cut in pay could affect your family’s livelihood as well.

You are disrespected by upper management

If you are not being respected by upper management in your company, you should probably look at other opportunities. If you are not respected, you should accept the fact that it is likely that you will never move up as well. You deserve to the respected at any organization.
