Julia Letlow wins special election House race in Louisiana

Julia Letlow, an education professional and mother, won the special election held in Louisiana’s 5th District. The seat was vacated after her husband, newly elected to Congress, passed due to complications from Covid-19. Letlow pledged to continue her husband’s mission and ran to fill his seat, receiving endorsements from former President Trump, former Vice President Pence, as well as Congresswoman Elise Stefanik’s E-PAC.

“What was born out of the terrible tragedy of losing my husband, Luke, has become my mission in his honor to carry the torch and serve the good people of Louisiana’s 5th District,” Letlow said on the night of her victory. “From tonight forward, I work for you and it is an honor to do so.”

Elise Stefanik introduces the American Workforce Recovery Act

Congresswoman Elise Stefanik introduced the American Workforce Recovery Act alongside Jason Crow (CO-06) to support Americans’ return to the workforce post-pandemic, and to create incentives for businesses to hire and educate these workers. 

More specifically, Stefanik notes that “the bill gives states funding to expand vocational training options for workers and increase remote employment services; grants local workforce boards with funds for reskilling workers through individual training accounts and employer-directed training; allows for flexibility on how displaced workers use their individual training accounts; incentivizes businesses to offer work-based training.”

Michelle Steel and Young Kim speak out against anti-Asian hate

Congresswomen Michelle Steel and Young Kim joined CNN host Dana Bash for a segment in celebration of Women’s History Month “Badass Women of Washington.” Their conversation centered around the rise in anti-Asian American hate around the country, as well as the way forward for the country. Steel and Kim, decades-long friends and now the first two GOP Korean-Americans to serve in Congress, highlighted their paths to making history in their elections and also underscored the importance of diversity in the Republican Party.

Dana Loesch signs multi-year deal to continue radio show

Dana Loesch, an award-winning and nationally syndicated radio talk show host, signed a deal to continue her partnership with Radio America. The Dana Show is currently broadcast on nearly 200 stations, and Loesch is the most-listened to female talk show host in the country. Loesch has a loyal following among younger audiences, and her reach is only expected to grow. The Dana Show runs from 12-3 PM daily.

Shelley Moore Capito highlights the importance of bipartisanship on CBS This Morning

Senator Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia and Nevada Senator Jacky Rosen spoke on CBS This Morning about their unlikely friendship and their common goals in Congress. The senators explained that they understand their differences and respect them, instead seeking to work together on areas where they find common ground–like supporting girls in STEM fields. Capito remarked that much of the success of their friendship and their work together in Congress rests in the fact that they are both “doers” and they like to get results.
