Turning Point USA’s Young Women’s Leadership Summit next week. There will be 700-1,000 women between the ages of 16 and 24 attending from all across the country. If you are a first time attendee, you may be concerned on what you should bring. Here is a list to help make packing a little bit easier.

A notebook

At YWLS, you will be hearing from many influential and intelligent political icons. The speeches that you will hear at this conference will provide you with invaluable information and tips to further your political activism. You will definitely want to bring a notebook and a pen to take notes.

Money for merchandise

There will be 27 sponsors at YWLS, including Future Female Leaders. Some of the sponsors will be selling t-shirts, books, stickers and much more. It is the perfect place to get conservative merchandise. In addition to the spending money you will bring for meals, you will without a doubt want to bring some extra money for merchandise.

Band-aids and Tylenol

As you know, you will be wearing business casual at YWLS. This usually includes heels, skirts and blazers. Sometimes wearing business casual can be uncomfortable or hot, especially in a crowded room. If you tend to get headaches from this or just from being around a lot of people, Tylenol will be essential so you do not miss out on any of the excitement. You will also be walking around a lot and are bound to get a few blisters. Be sure to add Band-Aids to your packing list, you will not regret it.

Portable charger

From networking with others to tweeting, you will be using your phone a lot. Bringing a portable charger is highly recommended because your phone battery will likely be dead before the day is over. I suggest bringing a portable charger based on previous experiences since right after the conference day is over, you will want to go and explore Dallas, not be bound to a wall charger.

Snacks

Since the hotel does not serve breakfast, there is a small cafe inside where you can purchase breakfast food. If you know that you will be in a hurry or do not want to spend an extra buck for breakfast, you will definitely want to bring a snack with protein in it, like a granola bar. Additionally, some protein snacks will be helpful if you do not have time to eat. There will be a lot going on.

Anything related to your favorite speakers

Maybe you have a bumper sticker or a sign related to your favorite speaker – bring it. You can bring items related to the speaker to show support or even have him or her sign it. While meeting your favorite speaker is not guaranteed, it is always good to be prepared. You will not want to bring anything too bulky, though, since you do not want anything weighing you down while trying to make the most of the conference.
