Last night, Nevada Republicans headed out to caucus and they brought the excitement. Going into the caucus, there were five Republicans remaining active in the race, though many are still on the ballot in certain states, which is something to keep in mind.

According to many sources, the caucuses were a bit chaotic, with accusations of double-voting and dirty tactics running rampant. There was talk of running out of ballots, and volunteers showing up in gear showing their candidate preference or affiliation, which is normally frowned upon but not against the rules in caucuses.

For a little history, Mitt Romney won the Nevada Caucus in both 2008 and 2012, both times with over 50% of the vote. In 2008, John McCain, the eventual Republican nominee, came in third with only 12.75% of the vote. In 2008, Hillary Clinton beat eventual nominee President Barack Obama 50.8% to 45.1%.

Going into the caucus, 61% of Nevada Republican voters said they wanted a political outsider for president. On that note, Fox News declared Donald Trump the winner only seconds after the polls closed, based on pre-caucus polls and entrance polls.

The final results of Nevada, according to the Associated Press, were as follows:

Donald Trump: 45.9%

Marco Rubio: 23.9%

Ted Cruz: 21.4%

Ben Carson: 4.8%

John Kasich: 3.6%

The next step in this election is on Super Tuesday, where the remaining Republican candidates will battle for votes next on Super Tuesday, when Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, Georgia, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, and Virginia all hold primaries or caucuses.
