The Clinton machine is once again riled up and ready to vie for a 2016 nomination. It is essential to understand Hillary Clinton’s history in the political arena. Anyone involved in politics for over two decades is bound to have an extensive track record.  However, Mrs. Clinton’s seems to be filled with the constant transformation of views on hot-button issues. While many question whether Hillary Clinton has experienced honest changes of heart or whether these are politically motivated stunts, most of us understand that the latter is true. Some of Hillary’s most profound flip-flops are on the following topics:

1) Gay Marriage

Hillary Clinton’s change in position on gay marriage has flooded both the media and social networking sites ever since her campaign was launched in April. Before 2013, Hillary held a considerable record that would prove her disdain towards gay marriage. In 1996, she supported her husband as he signed the Defense of Marriage Act.  This allowed states to refuse to recognize same-sex marriage. While campaigning for the Senate in January 2000, Mrs. Clinton has been profoundly exposed for saying, “Marriage has got historic, religious and moral content that goes back to the beginning of time and I think a marriage is as a marriage has always been, between a man and a woman.” Additionally, in 2004, Hillary stated on the floor of the U.S. Senate that she “believe[s] that marriage is not just a bond, but a sacred bond between a man and woman.” She goes on to say the unity of a man and woman is the “fundamental bedrock principle” of marriage. According to an NPR interview, Hillary Clinton chalks her change in position up to her being a “thinking human being” who is “constantly reevaluating where [she] stands”.

2) Trade

As Secretary of State back in 2012, Hillary Clinton was a strong proponent of a free trade agreement.  This was known as the Trans-Pacific Partnership, consisting of 12 nations. Hillary, on the other hand, cannot afford to lose a single voter as she gears up for 2016. She conveniently changed her views on the matter. With various unions upset over the TPP, Hillary’s campaign office recently suggested that she will no longer be supporting the TPP.  This is the same trade agreement that she once advocated so passionately for. Coincidence? I think not.

3) Immigration

“We’ve got to do several things and I am, you know, adamantly against illegal immigrants.” Sounds like a Republican conservative politician, right? Wrong. Hillary Clinton is quoted saying exactly that in a radio interview circa 2003. Her hard-line change in immigration views has many worried, and for good reason. Mrs. Clinton was once for demanding secure borders and being against amnesty.  She is now taking softer approaches on the tough subject. Clinton now is calling for a pathway to citizenship. She also fully supports Obama’s contentious executive order on immigration and has even vowed to expand upon it.

While these happen to be Hillary’s three biggest flip-flops, many more can be found if one delves into her political history. Hillary has demonstrated drastic changes in her position on things such as the corn ethanol tax, campaign finance, the Iraq war, the Cuban Embargo and the list goes on. If Mrs. Clinton has flopped on such a large scale of important issues, how can anyone trust her on the campaign trail? Hillary Clinton’s political motives cannot and should not be understated, and it is of utmost importance that she is exposed before she can cause some real damage to this nation.
