Senator Susan Collins unveils $300m energy storage bill

Senator Susan Collins introduced a bipartisan bill on Wednesday targeting energy storage. This bill is an attempt to solve the problem of storing excess renewable energy when it isn’t being produced. The Better Energy Storage Technology (BEST) Act lays out a plan for dedicated research on this issue within the Department of Energy. The bill is cosponsored by Sens. Gardner (R-CO), McSally (R-AZ), Heinrich (D-NM), Smith (D-MN), Coons, (D-DE), and King (I-ME).

Allie Beth Stuckey stands up against “Pro-Birth” Label

Prominent conservative commentator, author, and podcast host Allie Beth Stuckey is standing up to the “pro-birth” label many abortion activists label pro-lifers as. Stuckey, who is pregnant, has created an Amazon registry – but it’s not for her. The items bought off the registry are sent to a crisis pregnancy center in Richardson, Texas. Nikki Haley receives Simon Wiesenthal Center’s Humanitarian Award

Former Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley was named the 2019 recipient of the Simon Wiesenthal Center’s Humanitarian Laureate Award, the highest honor one can win from the Center. The SWC is committed to confronting anti-Semitism, defending the safety of Jews worldwide, defending Israel, and teaching the lessons of the Holocaust. Haley was given the award for her “courage and compassion in protecting global human rights and the state of Israel.”

President Trump nominates Barbara Barrett as next Secretary of the Air Force

The former Ambassador to Finland under President George W. Bush and former chair of the  Aerospace Corporation has been nominated as the next Secretary of the Air Force. Barrett is also a certified jet pilot and was the first civilian woman pilot to land an F-18 fighter jet on an aircraft carrier. She is close friends with Senator Martha McSally, who tweeted her congratulations after the news broke on Tuesday: “Thanks [President Trump] for taking my recommendation on this important role and selecting an incredibly talented leader as next A[ir] F[orce] Secretary!”
