After President Joe Biden was inaugurated this past January, talk began to circulate among Conservative circles that perhaps it was time for a new political party, factioned off from the Republic Party, and spearheaded by former President Donald Trump. It would be a populist movement, made up of the forgotten men, women, and children that the Left and the Right love to sweep aside after election season. For those who feel continually abandoned by the GOP “establishment,” this seemed the perfect solution. It would hold some of the same values and principles of the Republican Party, but it would be a revolutionary party, in a sense, working to root out the corruption among the GOP. But is this “Patriot Party” a realistically good idea?

If one thing’s for certain, it’s that the Left absolutely loves division and chaos among conservatives. They feed off of it like a parasite. Part of the reason for this is because as an ideology, they have no clear end goal in sight. Ask any Progressive what they are progressing towards, or what needs to happen for society to progress enough, and they won’t be able to tell you. And so, division on the Right serves as a distraction that the media can point at, and even mock. The division among conservatives that the Patriot Party would create would be irreparable and catastrophic. There would be no “home base” for everyday, hard working Americans that believe in small government, free markets and learn more traditional on social issues, like abortion.

There are no clear, uniting principles that tie this proposed party together, except for two things: their love for Trump, and their hate for the Establishment. It actually mimics the behavior of the Left, who spent the last four years simply attacking President Trump’s administration. And aren’t we always talking about how we have to be better than the Left?

Of course, it’s alright to be a fan of President Trump. He did some great things for America, but as an ideology, we can not allow ourselves to be defined by one man. If one man can bring about our triumph, he can also bring about our downfall.  What would happen if one day, after the formation of the Patriot Party, the former president suddenly reversed his stance on everything his administration stood for? Would the Patriot Party follow him and his new views, or would they remain steadfast in the positions taken by President Trump during his time in office? These are things that are necessary to consider for all those in favor of the Patriot Party.

Not only would a Patriot Party cause massive division and discord, preventing any chance of the Left taking us seriously, but it would divide our voting base by so much that both the Patriot Party and the Republican Party would be reduced to the level of influence as that of any third party. If the Right ever wants to win another presidency, or any major election for that matter, it is essential that we remain united to work for the common good of America.

If you are in favor of the Patriot Party, or are currently unsure of your stance on a new party, I urge you to take these things I have said into consideration. And always remember, at the end of the day, our main goal should always be protecting and preserving the America that we all know and love.
