Unless you’ve been living under a rock recently, you probably have become familiar with your enneagram type, started following a couple of enneagram Instagram accounts, and obsessively ask your family and friends to tell you their enneagram type. If the word “enneagram” sounds foreign to you, no worries. The enneagram is a personality test that analyzes where you best fit within nine different personality types. You can take the free test here to discern your enneagram type. Your enneagram can reveal a lot about how you cope with stress. Self care is something that you should incorporate into your routine for the new year and what better way to incorporate it than have a regimen built for you based on your personality type?

Type 1: The Reformer

Ones are perfectionists who strive to be “right” in all aspects of life and value moral superiority. Ones need to take time for themselves in an environment that promotes relaxation. This means turning off your phone, laptop, and other devices that make you feel as if there is something that must be done in that moment. Turn your phone on Do Not Disturb mode, do a face mask or get your nails done and use that down time to relax.

Type 2: The Helper

Twos love doing acts of service for others and employing their help to everyone in their vicinity. Twos should allow themselves a break from constantly helping others. Instead of worrying about others, take time to focus on yourself. Take a walk, go for a run, or read a book. After, you’ll have more energy to pour into others!

Type 3: The Achiever

Threes are driven individuals who love to be completing tasks and working towards success. Threes must allow themselves to take a break from their to do lists and spend some time on introspection. Start a gratitude journal or write letters to a friend. After, you’ll be ready to take on the world.

Type 4: The Individualist

Fours are creative and emotionally driven. However, they often struggle with establishing an identity. Fours should establish a fun and easy morning and/or night routine that can be completed daily to establish a sense of consistency each day. Remember, routines require repetition so keep at it for at least a couple weeks.

Type 6: The Loyalist

Sixes are aware and loyal. However, if their passion becomes negative, things can go bad quickly. Sixes should use their passion and energy for good. Use your time to volunteer or support a cause that is important to you. Giving back will keep you centered and feeling accomplished!

Type 7: The Enthusiast

Sevens are naturally impulsive and sporadic. Sevens can be a bit scatterbrained and undisciplined. Keeping track of your thoughts is easier said than done. Start writing out to do lists and doing “brain dumps” to clear your mind. Treat yourself to a planner and spend a few minutes each week keeping it organized — your life will thank you!

Type 8: The Challenger

Eights are confident, independent and dominant. However, their dominance can become a bit much at times, especially in professional relationships. Whether you believe that you are reliant on others or not, you are. Spend some extra time thanking a friend or coworker for all that they do for you and understand that it’s okay to ask for help on daunting tasks.

Type 9: The Peacemaker

Nines are agreeable and easygoing. However, sometimes their own thoughts and opinions take a back seat whenever negotiating with others. Nines should understand that their perspective is valuable and it should be shared. Speak up for yourself and what you need or make a phone call to give yourself an outlet to express your opinions.
