The CW network knows how to suck you in, and their latest runaway hit, Riverdale, is no exception. The show, which is a dark take on the Archie Comics classics, has been running since January 2017. Now, it’s in it’s fourth season. However, not only has it given people something to binge watch and talk about, it’s inspired a renewed interest in the Archie Comics characters that many of our parents actually grew up with. Whenever I see a TV series doing well, I like to look around as see how the book world is responding. Publishers see trends from a mile away. They publish the kind of books people want to read if they like these shows.

With that in mind, here are six books you’ll want to read if you love watching Riverdale.

You’ll learn more about Archie and the gang.

You’ll meet some side characters

And you’ll discover a whole new way to take in your favorite show.

Season of the Witch (The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Book 1)

It’s the summer before her sixteenth birthday, and Sabrina Spellman knows her world is about to change. She’s always studied magic and spells with her aunts, Hilda and Zelda. But she’s also lived a normal mortal life — attending Baxter High, hanging out with her friends Susie and Roz, and going to the movies with her boyfriend, Harvey Kinkle. Now time is running out on her everyday, normal world, and leaving behind Roz and Susie and Harvey is a lot harder than she thought it would be. Especially because Sabrina isn’t sure how Harvey feels about her. Her cousin Ambrose suggests performing a spell to discover Harvey’s true feelings. But when a mysterious wood spirit interferes, the spell backfires… in a big way. Sabrina has always been attracted to the power of being a witch. But now she can’t help wondering if that power is leading her down the wrong path. Will she choose to forsake the path of light and follow the path of night?

The Day Before (Riverdale, Novel #1)

Based on the massively successful CW show, Riverdale, this prequel novel explores what the gang was doing before Season One.Why did Jughead and Archie have a falling out? What did Veronica’s life look like in the Big Apple? And how long has Betty really been in love with Archie? Told from multiple points of view, your favorite characters tell their story their way.

Get Out of Town (Riverdale, Novel 2)

When Archie, Betty, Veronica and Jughead take a road trip, they discover that their small-town problems seem to follow them wherever they go. Archie’s on trial for murder, and the evidence is stacked against him. Betty, Veronica, and Jughead all know that Archie is being framed by Hiram Lodge, but how can they prove it? The gang comes up with a last-ditch plan to prove Archie’s innocence: They have to go back to the scene of the crime. They have to go back to Shadow Lake. Threats are around every corner deep in the woods at the Lodge family cabin. Will the teens find the evidence they need to clear Archie’s name? And more importantly, will they make it back to Riverdale alive?

The Maple Murders (Riverdale, Novel # 3)

Riverdale is clamoring with excitement over news that an old town tradition is suddenly being revived: the Riverdale Revels. The festival supposedly has a long history, dating back to the town’s settlers’ first successful maple tapping. But there’s no record of the Revels anywhere. Archie, Betty, Veronica, and Jughead think there must be more to the story. And when a skeleton is uncovered in a 75-year-old time capsule on the first night of the festival, they know they’re right. But a dead body in a maple barrel isn’t the only drama surrounding the Revels. The Royal Maple pageant (open to all Riverdale teens) is in full swing, but “accidents” keep befalling the contestants, including the gang’s friends. Someone is clearly trying to put an end to the Revels once and for all — but who? And more importantly, why? Can Archie and his friends put a stop to the sabotage before someone puts a stop to them? This original novel features a story not seen on the show!

Riverdale Student Handbook

The Riverdale High student handbook looks like an ordinary introduction to the high school. There’s class photos and a campus map and student guidelines from Principal Weatherbee. But what you really need to know about Riverdale, can’t be found in an official handbook. Luckily, Archie, Betty, Veronica, Jughead and other classmates have gotten hold of the guide. They’ve slipped in classified student records, private notes, and secret photos and scribbled their own notes with tips on surviving Riverdale High.
