It Was A Busy Week For Conservative Women, Let’s Break It Down

Can you believe it’s already May? The start of summer kicks off in a few weeks, but that doesn’t mean our conservative women aren’t as busy as ever. Let’s get to it:

Nancy Mace speaks of “Biden’s radical spending agenda”

In an appearance on Fox News, Rep. Nancy Mace (SC-01) shared her thoughts on Pres. Biden’s spending plans, which have totaled to $6,000,000,000,000 (yes, $6 trillion). She said, “As a single working mom, I went to Congress to fight for my children’s future—not mortgage it. President Biden’s administration is proposing the most radical spending agenda in a generation. We can’t afford four years of this.”

New Female Young Americans for Liberty (YAL) Director Hired

Lauren Daugherty is the new Executive Director for Young Americans for Liberty (YAL). Daugherty remarked on Twitter that YAL is “one of America’s largest and most effective grassroots organizations. YAL’s mission is to identify, educate, train, and mobilize youth activists to #MakeLibertyWin.” Of Daugherty, YAL shared that her “well-rounded background and exceptional leadership abilities bring a new chapter to YAL as we accelerate our trajectory for the future.”

Lila Rose Releases New Book

Lila Rose, a leader in the Pro-Life movement and founder of Live Action, released a new book this week called “Fighting For Life: Becoming A Force For Change In a Wounded World”. As the book’s website shares, “Lila guides readers from the beginning thoughts of, ‘How can I help?’ to, ‘Yes, I can be a force for good, and I can start today, providing a much-needed handbook on how to truly make a difference in today’s world.’”

Susan Wright Advances to Runoff

Susan Wright, who is running to fill her late husband’s congressional seat (TX-06) advanced to the runoff election this week after coming in first place for an open primary. Wright won President Trump’s “complete and total endorsement”, which propelled her into the runoff, among other endorsements (like the Young Republicans and Elise Stefanik’s E-PAC). There were 23 candidates of both parties on the ballot, and fortunately, there was a Democratic lockout, meaning the Democratic candidate fell to third place and is out of the runoff. Wright will face fellow Republican Jake Ellzey in the runoff this summer.

Gov. Kay Ivey raises Alabama Teachers’ Pay

In a state with a healthy budget, Alabama Governor Kay Ivey was able to sign into law Alabama Senate Bill 188, which includes a two percent pay increase for Alabama’s teachers. Gov. Ivey offered this statement during the signing of the bill, “Alabama schools have shown the rest of the nation that it is possible to be safely back in the classroom, while carrying on the important work of providing Alabama’s children a chance for a promising future. I look forward to continually offering my support to ensure that Alabama students remain on track and moving ahead.”

Women Top List as Most Bipartisan Congressional Members

The Lugar Center at the Georgetown University McCourt School of Public Policy released their rankings of bipartisanship for 2019-2020, part of the previous 116th Congress. Rep. Jenniffer Gonzalez (the delegate from Puerto Rico) and Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) are both in the top 15 most bipartisan House of Representatives members. Senators Collins (R-ME), Murkowski (R-AK), Capito (R-WV), and former Senator McSally (R-AZ) are in the top 10 senators with Senator Collins named as the most bipartisan member of the Senate. Collins has been named the Lugar Center’s most Bipartisan Senator for eight consecutive years.
