Congratulation 46, we officially have a crisis at the southern border and its one entirely of your making. It is hard to believe that less than 6 months ago, we had a fairly stable southwestern border. Now it’s March 2021, we’re about 2 not-great months into the Biden administration and the border is in complete chaos. Contrary to White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki’s statement about the border crisis where she said “…the last administration left us a dismantled and unworkable system,” it’s actually been Biden who has torn up the regulations and rules that were put in place to secure our border.

Back in 2018 Time magazine oh-so-cleverly put Trump on the cover of their publication with a crying Latin American child at his feet. Around this time, AOC and other Dems were busy visiting the border, spreading these very interesting pictures and declared that Trump was the very worst for how he was handling unaccompanied illegal minors. Fast forward and we now have over 4,000 unaccompanied children here in the US with nowhere for them to go. The problem isn’t even that we don’t have anywhere to hold these children but what are we ultimately going to do with them? The US already has an over-burdened foster care system so what exactly are we supposed to do with another 4,000 children? Right now, they’re crammed into various camps and facilities awaiting larger places like the Dallas convention center to be converted for them to stay in.  What kind of a solution is this? Where will these kids ultimately go? Where are their parents? Will they end up becoming wards of the US? These are questions I would like to hear answered from 46 but as we know, he has unprecedentedly not held a press conference since taking office.

One of Trump’s successful immigration policies was the “Remain in Mexico” policy, requiring asylum seekers and migrants to remain in Mexico while their claim was processed. Under former President Obama’s administration, asylum seekers and migrants could file their claims and were released into the US while their claim was processed. However whether or not their claim was approved or rejected, many of them stayed regardless, knowing that the US doesn’t have the time or manpower to track them all down. That program has been suspended under Biden. Now, some 25,000 asylum seekers are set to be released into the United States.

Joe Machin, Democrat Senator for WV, has agreed that there is a crisis at the border and seems to be the first major Democrat to acknowledge what is happening. Vice President Kamala Harris side stepped a question about the border crisis, which is a drastic turn-about from 2018 when she was part of a protest against Trump’s immigration polices along one of California’s borders. Typical Nancy Pelosi unsurprisingly blamed Trump. So as We the People watch our border conditions continue to collapse, the number of illegal immigrants to rise, a heavy uptick in human trafficking and the added financial strain that will come with all of this, make no mistake who directly caused this crisis: President Joe Biden.
