Marco Rubio, current US Senator from Florida, former presidential candidate, and a Democrat’s biggest fear, is still the hope for the beloved Grand Old Party. His youthfulness and modern take on conservatism are exactly what the country needs to excel as it used to. Although he did not continue his bid for the presidency, he impressed many voters and defined for those who were unsure of what it means to be conservative and not just Republican.
After his unfortunate failed run at POTUS, Rubio decided he would end his career as an elected official after this Senate term ended. To the dismay of many supporters, he took to Twitter and declared that he would be finished with politics and return to being a private citizen.
Fortunately, this was a very short-lived idea of his. Rubio announced recently that he will be seeking reelection to the United States Senate, and hoping to impact more people in his time in public service.
A statement from his new Senate campaign is:
“Control of the Senate may very well come down to the race in Florida. That means the future of the Supreme Court will be determined by the Florida Senate seat. It means the future of the disastrous Iran nuclear deal will be determined by the Florida Senate seat. It means the direction of our country’s fiscal and economic policies will be determined by this Senate seat.”
