This month’s #MCM not only succeeds George W. Bush for the title of FFL’s #MCM, but also succeeded him as the Governor of Texas... Rick Perry! Unlike most politicians, Perry didn’t study business, law, or political science. He actually graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in… animal science! His love for animals is plastered over the internet with dozens of photographs of him holding adorable puppies (aww!)

Rick Perry and his wife Anita host the Texas Conference for Women each year. Attendees of the conference learn communication skills, leadership strategies and other methods designed to enhance their professional and personal growth… Yup, you read that right. A Republican presidential candidate who *gasp* believes that women can also be leaders!

As Governor Perry signed multiple legislations that have helped animals and humans alike. He signed one bill that banned the inhumane euthanization of animals in shelters through-out the state of Texas. He also signed a bill which allows individuals with disabilities to use the assistance of service animals in all public places, including retail businesses and restaurants, without having to show the qualifications or certifications of the assistance animal.

While Perry may be considered an underdog (pun intended) for the Republican nomination this year, it is clear that he is definitely a respectable contender.
