We have all heard the claims that the Republican Party is racist. People who believe this nonsense are in dire need of a history lesson. It’s time to pin the tail on the donkey.  Not only does the Democratic Party have an extremely racist history, but its current policies are also holding minorities back.

In March of 1854, the Republican Party was officially formed in opposition to the Democrat’s pro-slavery stance. Under Republican President Abraham Lincoln, The Republican-controlled Congress passed the 13th Amendment, which abolished slavery in 1865. While 100% of the Republicans voted for the 13th amendment, only 23% of the Democrats voted for it. A couple years later, the Supreme Court ruled on Dred Scott v. Sanford. The decision was divided between two Republican justices and seven Democratic justices. With the Democrats in the majority, the Supreme Court ruled that African-Americans could not be considered citizens of the United States.

By 1866, Democrats founded the KKK as a way of trying to combat the Republican Party’s efforts to establish equality for African-Americans. Despite the Democrat Party’s claims to be all about equality, its ties to the KKK have lasted for over a century and are still ongoing. Robert Byrd, a Democrat, served in the House of Representatives from 1953 to 1959 and the Senate from 1959 to 2010. In the 1940s, Byrd created a new chapter of the KKK in West Virginia. Byrd once wrote in a letter, “I shall never fight in the armed forces with a negro by my side … Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds.” During Byrd’s first campaign, he announced that he was no longer a member of the KKK. However, the Democratic Party’s ties to the KKK do not end there. Just this past March, Will Quigg, a KKK leader switched his support from Donald Trump to Hillary Clinton. Quigg stated, “She is telling everybody one thing, but she has a hidden agenda.”

Shortly after the KKK was founded, the 14th Amendment was passed in 1868, which granted citizenship to “all persons born or naturalized in the United States.” While 100 percent of Republicans voted in favor of the 14th Amendment, every single Democrat voted against it. Following the 14th Amendment, the 15th Amendment gave African-American men the right to vote. Of course, the Democrats voted against this as well. Clearly, the Democrats were doing everything they could to suppress the rights of African-Americans. So in the 1870s, when they gained control of Congress in all of the southern states, the Democrats instilled Jim Crow laws.

For many years to come, Democrats were on a mission to stop the Republican Party’s efforts towards equality. In 1918, the Democrats blocked an anti-lynching bill that a Republican introduced to the House of Representatives. The Democrat’s KKK had lynched thousands of people and the proposed bill was aimed at punishing those who committed these horrific acts.

It wasn’t until 1954 that the Supreme Court decided legal segregation in public schools was unconstitutional. This decision sparked the Civil Rights Movement, which the Democrats strongly opposed. Finally, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was passed…but not until after the Democrats tried to prevent the vote with a 54 day filibuster. In the House, 80% of Republicans voted for the bill while only 63% of Democrats voted for it. In the Senate, 82% of Republicans voted in favor of the bill and only 69% of Democrats voted in favor of it. Of course, Democrats try to take credit for this since the President who signed it, Lyndon B. Johnson, was a Democrat.

Today, Democrats claim that the parties “switched” in regards to which party is more racist. The reality is that the Democrats had to change their strategy as blatant racism in the United States was on the decline. With the Democrats strong opposition to equality, there is no way they would have been able to win elections. To solve this, the Democrats started pretending to finally care about people of color and began pointing fingers at the Republicans. Throughout history, however, the Republicans have fought for equality of all people, regardless of race or gender. Republicans paved the way for racial equality and Democratic policies have only held minorities back. In attempt to win the votes of minorities, the Democrats expanded welfare programs. In 1964, President Lyndon B. Johnson launched “The Great Society” program, which was the name for a huge set of welfare programs aimed at fighting the War on Poverty. Around the time these programs began, President Lyndon B. Johnson allegedly told two governors, “I’ll have those n****** voting Democrat for 200 years.”

Sadly, the racist scheme by the Democrats has worked thus far. We have spent $22 trillion fighting the War on Poverty and the amount of people receiving welfare benefits has skyrocketed. If the War on Poverty were actually working, we would be seeing drastic results. The sad truth is that results have been minimal as the poverty rate today is strikingly close to the poverty rate in 1964. Before the Democrat’s War on Poverty began, the poverty rate was falling immensely. Since the Great Society programs were launched, the poverty rate has practically leveled off.

African Americans are affected by poverty more than any other racial group. Even though they only make up about 13 percent of the U.S. population, they also make up 26 percent of Americans in poverty. By offering so many welfare benefits to the poor, there is no way for them to move out of poverty. But the poor is not to blame for this, the government is. The government gives people just enough to keep them from wanting to move up. There is no reason to work hard when, if you don’t, the government will give you everything you need and more. YouTube star and political commentator, Alfonzo Rachel best explains the Democratic Party’s racist agenda as he says in one of his videos, “I’ll tell you why overcoming hasn’t happened for you, because you have been suckered into voting for the party you were supposed to overcome.”

Racism in the Democratic Party’s policies does not end there. Affirmative action was originally meant to prevent companies from discriminating against people of color. Today, however, affirmative action policies lower standards for minorities. Democrats are fighting to keep affirmative action in place, as they do not think minorities are good enough to be held to the same standards as white people. Rather than judging people by their qualifications, Democrats think we should judge people by the color of their skin…and that is the exact opposite of what Martin Luther King Jr. wanted.

The Democrats are also huge fans of abortion and Planned Parenthood. The founder of Planned Parenthood, Margaret Sanger, wanted to “exterminate the negro population.” Today, black babies are aborted at a much higher rate than babies of any other race. Of all the babies aborted, about 35 percent of them are black. It all makes sense because Planned Parenthood is actually targeting minorities, as the vast majority of their clinics are located within walking distance of primarily minority neighborhoods. The Democratic Party loves this abortion factory so much that they want to increase funding to Planned Parenthood. That’s right, the Democrats want to give more money to a company that proudly supports and performs abortions, the number one cause of death for African-Americans.

The mainstream media also loves to paint the Republican Party as racist. Yet they tend to brush racist remarks from Democrats under the rug. In 2008, Democratic Senator Harry Reid said that Obama could win the election because he was “light skinned” and speaks “with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one.” Vice President Joe Biden is no angel either. Biden stated in 2007, “I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that’s a storybook, man.”

I am tired of being told that being a Republican makes me racist. It is Republican policies that lift people out of poverty and treat everyone equally. Come this November, keep this in mind: If you vote for a Democrat, you are voting for the party that supports policies that work to hold back the poor. If you vote for a Democrat, you are voting for the party that only cares about people of color for votes. If you vote for a Democrat, you are voting for the party that spent the majority of its history treating African-Americans like property rather than people. Choose Wisely.
