As the 54th Speaker of the House of Representatives, it is undeniable that Paul Ryan holds a great amount of power and influence. Despite the important role that Ryan plays in American government, he is also extremely down to earth and charming. There are 7 specific reasons why us conservative girls love Speaker Paul Ryan.
1) He’s done wonders for the Republican Party
Before serving as Speaker of the House, Congressman Ryan served as the Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee. There, he stated that our federal government needs to shrink; he proposed that we fix our broken tax code by holding the IRS accountable. During the 112th and 113th Congresses Ryan served as Chairman of the House Budget Committee where he gave ideas on how to attack the spending problems, due to entitlement spending. Paul Ryan had a major role in drafting the proposal that the Republican Party would use in the 2012 election as a way to lift our burdening debt- The Path to Prosperity. These are only a couple of things Paul Ryan has done to help further his party.
2) He’s a cheesehead
Okay, this might only be relevant to Packers fans. Paul Ryan, born and raised in Janesville, Wisconsin, is a diehard Green Bay Packers fan. If he’s not at the Capitol during football season, you can almost bet money on the fact that he is at a Packers game with his family. Paul Ryan even tweeted to the Governor of New Jersey, Chris Christie (who is a big Cowboys fan) after a tough loss from Dallas, “Christie, do you need a hug now?” This is only one of many playful remarks Ryan has been known to make to others outside of the Green Bay Packers fan club.
3) He doesn’t give up
Paul Ryan is a hard working man. He has been taking great strides to make sure that Israel stays our best ally. Recently, while giving a speech to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, Ryan stated “As long as I am speaker, I will not allow any legislation that divides [Israel and America] to come to the house floor.” He’s taken his duty seriously and made great strides to give our great nation something to celebrate, look back on, and smile upon.
4) He’s not tied down to his work
Paul Ryan is not shy about his love for fishing and hunting. Take a look at his social media; the other week was opening day for turkey season. Paul Ryan’s staff members have even started calling his beard “the hunting beard.” It seems that after talking to some office members in the Capitol, it was stated that he started growing his fashionable beard at a deer camp. Sadly, right before CPAC of this year, Ryan shaved the famous beard!
Due to heart attacks being prone in his family, Paul Ryan stays in shape at a cross-training fitness program called P90X. Ryan enjoys running marathons to stay in shape as well. He has mentioned before that he is very careful about what he puts into his body. From all of us, thank you Paul Ryan for staying fit and healthy!
5) He’s a family man
When John Boehner announced he was soon to retire, the Republicans were in desperate need for someone strong to take his place. The Republicans asked Paul Ryan and, after refusing several times, he came around to the idea of it. However, his one condition was that he would still have family time with his wife and children. He has mentioned that family comes first, and without them he wouldn’t be the man he is today. So adorable.
6) He is a true conservative
Paul Ryan stands true to “One Nation Under God.” He stands for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. He stands for justice. He stands for smaller government. Most importantly, though, he will stand up for his party, in the best and worst of situations. Ryan wants the more traditional Republican views put in place. He won’t back down from a fight, and he knows how to accept criticism. Paul Ryan wants the best for the United States, and he doesn’t hold political office to further his name sake. He cares about mending our nation together, and that’s all us citizens of this great country have ever asked for.
7) Have you seen this man?
You didn’t think we’d leave this out, did you? He’s tall AND handsome.
“America is the only nation founded on an idea-not an identity. That idea is the notion that the condition of your birth does not determine the outcome of your life. Our rights are natural. They come from God, not government.” –Paul Ryan
