Welcome to this week’s edition of Conservative Women Weekly! With the corona-virus pandemic flooding the airwaves (reminder to wash your hands!!!), I think we’re all in need of some good news, especially coming from conservative women. Let’s dive right into it.

Rep. Elise Stefanik Turns Bad Note Into Positive Media

During a district visit last weekend, Representative Elise Stefanik (NY-21) received a threatening note on her car during a grocery store run. The note, which I’ll leave up to you to read, was posted by Stefanik on Twitter and received almost 8,000 retweets and over 17,000 likes. Stefanik was able to make the best out of a bad situation and earn some positive media out of taking the high road and offering prayers for the anonymous writer.

Evita Duffy, Daughter of Former U.S. Rep. and Fox News Host, Responds to Voting Initiative Backlash

Two weeks ago, University of Chicago’s Institute of Politics conducted an online campaign asking students why voting is important to them. Duffy, the oldest child of former United States Representative Sean Duffy (WI-7) and Fox News host Rachel Campos-Duffy and a second-year student, was photographed with a whiteboard saying “I vote because … the coronavirus won’t destroy America, but socialism will.” She faced extreme backlash on social media from fellow students, with attacks ranging from her appearance to her character and threats of physical violence. Last week, she published an op-ed in The Chicago Maroon explaining her side of the story. Her story was shared by many prominent conservatives.

Senators Collins, Capito, and McSally Co-Sponsor Conservation Bill

Senate leadership and the Trump Administration have worked out a deal to fully fund the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) and address the National Parks maintenance backlog. S.3422, or The Great American Outdoors Act, boasts $900 million for the LWCF and $1.3 billion to cover the deferred maintenance costs. Of the 14 Republican co-sponsors, three are women: Senators Susan Collins of Maine, Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia, and Martha McSally of Arizona.

Senator Loeffler Featured on 20 for 20 Podcast

The National Republican Senatorial Committee’s 20 For 20 podcast took a brief hiatus from interviewing senators during the impeachment hearings, but they have jumped right back on track. This week, they interviewed Georgia Senator Kelly Loeffler and covered a range of topics from 80s fashion to her recent visit to the CDC to learn about the coronavirus response. She also revealed how she reacted to former United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley’s endorsement of her campaign.

Bonus: Sarah Palin Revealed on Fox’s The Masked Singer

The Masked Singer is a singing competition on Fox where famous contestants are put into elaborate costumes and judges are forced to figure out who they are based on their singing voice and clues. Former Alaska Governor and vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin was revealed to be behind the Bear mask this season. However, what grabbed the internet’s attention was her choice in sign-off songs — Sir Mix-A-Lot’s Baby Got Back. Love her or hate her, but it takes a lot of guts to put yourself out there like she did, especially as a conservative woman.
