Happy Friday y’all! It’s officially spooky season even though it still feels like summer here in DC. Here’s all the ways women absolutely crushed it this week:

As Q3 Numbers Roll In, Both Elected Officials and Hopefuls Smash Expectations

With the 3rd Quarter in the rearview mirror, you may have seen a number of female candidates posting their fundraising hauls this week. Among them, Representative Nancy Mace announced she’s raised $950,000 in Q3, putting her on track to raise nearly $5 million before her primary in June 2022. Representative Ashley Hinson (IA-01) will report nearly $1 million raised in the third quarter, and Pennsylvania Senate hopeful Carla Sands reports a staggering $3.5 million in her first full quarter since announcing.

RSLC Announces Network to Encourage Diversity in GOP, Highlights National Electeds Who Started at State-Level

On Thursday, the Republican State Leadership Committee announced their newest initiative to connect Republican elected officials on the state level with mentors who went on to hold national positions, recruit a more diverse field of GOP candidates, and link Republican-aligned organizations. The Right Leaders Network will be led by chairs from each of their four internal caucuses and by an advisory council of former state-level officials who went on to hold higher office. Among others, the advisory council features Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Representatives Ashley Hinson (IA-01) and Young Kim (CA-39), Governor Kim Reynolds (R-IA), and former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley. The chairs of the organizations include Florida Lt. Gov. Jeanette Nunez and state legislators Rep. Kelly Fajardo of New Mexico and Rep. Val Okimoto of Hawai’i.

Nikki Haley Delivers Speech on Future of the Republican Party at Reagan Library

Earlier this week, former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley spoke at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library on the future of the Republican Party. She talked about her experiences growing up in America and leading as the first female and first minority governor of South Carolina. You can watch the speech here.

Bonus: All-Female Guard Changing at Arlington Cemetery, First in 84 Years of Continuous Guarding

While not necessarily political, I couldn’t let this one slide by without taking a moment. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery has been continuously guarded for the last 84 years. It has been guarded through all sorts of weather conditions and world events. On September 29th, the first all-female guard change was conducted. As reported by NPR a few days ago, Sgt. 1st Class Chelsea Porterfield was preparing to take her final walk as Sergeant of the Guard and at her request, schedules were aligned to make this momentous occasion happen. Porterfield is the first woman to hold the position of Sergeant of the Guard. We thank Chelsea and all of the Tomb guards for their service.
