Happy Wednesday! It’s been a great week here at FFL, (we had the CUTEST new arrivals come in on Sunday!) and we don’t plan on letting the hype settle. That being said, we needed the PERFECT weekly conservative woman, and not to brag, but we know just the lady. This weeks #WCW goes out to Margaret Thatcher!

Honestly, we could gush about Maggie for hours, so knowing where to start is the real struggle. The basics: Margaret was the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1979 to 1990 and the Leader of the Conservative Party from 1975 to 1990. She was the longest-serving British Prime Minister of the 20th century and is currently the only woman to have held the office. During her time in office, she achieved great things. Think of Ronald Reagan as the American version of Margaret Thatcher. No, I’m serious. They were BFF’s and Nancy Reagan herself called them “political soulmates.”

Thatcher’s staunch opposition to socialism earned her the nickname “Iron Lady,” which was given to her by a soviet journalist after she gave a speech entitled “Britain Awake.” The newspaper headline read: The Iron Lady Sounds The Alarm, and since then, the term stuck. It is now used to describe strong willed, confident, and ambitious women. Sounds like the kind of woman we all should strive to be.
