The 2020 election season is in full swing, and here at FFL we’re excited to see that there has been a surge in Republican women running for public office. We love to celebrate conservative women in all capacities and give our readers a look at what they stand for.

The filing date for the congressional and senate races for 2020 in Hawaii recently passed. There is one Republican woman running for the House of Representatives from Hawaii. The state will host congressional primaries on August 8,2020 and the general election on November 3, 2020.

Here’s what you need to know about that woman, Elise Hatsuko Kaneshiro

Hatsuko is a 25-year-old recent graduate of the University of Hawaii School of Law. She has done pro bono work and worked for the Sex Abuse Treatment Center while in school.

When asked about her goals in seeking office, she said that her mission is “to create a society in which all are empowered to reach their full potential.” While her website isn’t completely fleshed out yet, she did complete the Ballotpedia questionnaire for candidates.

In that questionnaire, Hatsuko said that she wanted to work to create financial freedom for the citizens of her state and diversity the state’s economy, promote spiritual and physical wellbeing, and provide practical and accessible education to the next generation. She says that someone who wants to understand her political philosophy should look to the Bible, and that 9/11 was the first major event she remembers. She was in the first grade. According to Politics 1, she currently works as a consultant. She also previously founded Mare Hair Care in early 2020.

Hatsuko is on the primary ballot in Hawaii’s second district. The seat is currently held by Democratic Representative and former presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard. Gabbard announced she would not run for re-election due to her presidential campaign.
