Kanye West held a campaign rally in North Charleston, South Carolina on Sunday, July 19, where he tearfully talked about abortion.

His official campaign stance is that he wouldn’t make abortion illegal if he were president, but he would give $1 million to people who chose not to. Then, he would give them $1 million for every additional child they choose not to abort. This is obviously a very bizarre stance to have, but this is also coming from the guy running under what he calls the “Birthday Party.”

However, he shared his own personal anecdote about abortion.

“My dad wanted to abort me. My mom saved my life. There would have been no Kanye West, because my dad was too busy,” said Kanye. But then he shared something we hadn’t heard beofre. “I almost killed my daughter … So even if my wife were to divorce me after this speech, she brought North into the world, even when I didn’t want to,” Kanye said, adding that “She stood up, and she protected that child.” He also said that he had a “vision from God” that told him that aborting his daughter would’ve been a mistake. Kanye added “No more Plan B, Plan A.”

He went on to bring a pro-choice activist up onto the stage and that’s when he shared his plan for giving financial assistance to women who choose to keep their babies. Also adding “It takes a village to raise a child. Society has been set up for single moms to not have a village, to not have a child.”

So do with this information what you will, but sharing testimony about keeping your child is extremely powerful.
