It’s a week of celebration for Republican women! We saw GOP ladies make gains in their state elections, steal the media spotlight, and support each other and future female leaders. Here’s four good news stories from this week.
Morgan Ortagus joins The View as a guest host
Morgan Ortagus, a former spokesperson for the State Department under President Trump, guest hosted The View this week. Ortagus, the latest in a series of conservatives to join the left-leaning panel of hosts, discussed a range of news stories, from Aaron Rodgers and COVID to Congressman Paul Gosar, and she even grilled Congressman Adam Schiff on the Steele dossier.
Republican women win elections across New Jersey
In a record-setting night for the state, seven GOP women won their elections to the New Jersey Assembly last week. Much like the Republican sweep in Virginia, GOP women in New Jersey are attributing the “red wave” to issues surrounding education and COVID. As Republicans across the state continue their efforts to elect more right-leaning women to office, we’ll see what the 2022 election cycle brings for New Jersey and the country at large.
Congresswoman Stefanik releases first round of endorsements for 2022 election cycle
Speaking of 2022, Elise Stefanik endorsed eight women who have announced their runs for Congress in next year’s election, along with a list of almost a dozen “women to watch.” The women are “small business owners, mothers, veterans, and health care leaders” across the country, like Esther Joy King in IL-17 and Karoline Leavitt in NH-01. As of this writing, almost 200 Republican women have filed to run in the 2022 election cycle!
Senator Capito continues supporting the next generation of female leaders
Shelley Moore Capito, senator from West Virginia, hosted an event for her “West Virginia Girls Rise Up” program this week. Capito started the program in 2015 to focus on building up young girls and empowering them to be “confident, kind, and strong female leaders.”
