Being a college student, it can be hard to find good meals that are on budget and are part of a healthy diet. At times it can feel hard to keep to a healthy routine because of this. Here are 10 meals that you are sure to love as a college student.

  1. Smoothies

I know what you’re thinking, but yes, smoothies can become a great smaller meal on the go to classes or work. In my smoothies, I like to combine frozen bananas and strawberries (or any fruit combination you like), with ice, almond milk and almond butter (substitute for milk and peanut butter). After blending thoroughly, I add plant protein powder to my smoothie. This has become a staple thing to make not only because it is simple, but healthy too.

  1. Chicken Avocado Bowl

This is another simple meal that I love to make. I start off by grilling a whole packet of chicken tenders, seasoning with garlic salt. Next, I cut up a whole avocado and add it to the chicken. I then add salt and anything but the bagel seasoning. This is such a great meal in only 3 steps that I love to make!

  1. Salads

I think salads have become a go-to meal for a lot of people trying to stick to a healthy routine, not just college students. Try to mix up your salad ingredients so that you do not get bored with one salad recipe. I love to use cucumbers, craisins, grilled chicken, and shredded cheese as ingredients in my salads.

  1. Meat and cheese wraps

Here is another simple snack for on the go. Using low-carb wraps, I like to make my wraps with ham and provolone. You can also include tomatoes, lettuce, and more.

  1. Chicken and Pasta Meal

This is a longer recipe, but I love to make it and either serve guests or keep as leftovers for the week. I start by combing half a clove of garlic, basil, small, chopped tomatoes, and oil into a bowl and set in the fridge. Meanwhile I grill chicken and boil spaghetti. I mix all of it together and add a container of shredded parmesan cheese, garnishing with salt and pepper.

  1. Avocado Toast

Avocado toast is a great recipe because although it is easy to make, it can be made with a short list of ingredients. While my bread is toasting, I fry up an egg and slice an avocado. I put the avocado and egg on top of the toast and include Anything But The Bagel seasoning plus salt and pepper.

  1. Chicken Tortilla Soup

This is such a great meal, with only 5 ingredients! Combine chicken stock, shredded rotisserie chicken, red enchilada sauce, canned tomatoes, and a can of corn into a big pot. Bring the pot to a simmer for 15 minutes and enjoy!

  1. Chipotle Bowls at Home

If you love Chipotle bowls but either do not want to spend much or do not want to go pick it up, it’s easy to do it at home too! Just cook your rice and chicken or steak, and add in avocado, salsa, beans, lettuce, and cheese. Of course, you can add any other ingredients you prefer and also make a non-dairy/gluten version!

  1. Grilled Chicken Nuggets and Fries

Here is a healthy spin on a classic meal that I love to make. I grill up some chicken and cut into nuggets, and on the side, I put sweet potato waffle fries into the air fryer. Sweet potatoes are a great alternative to regular potato fries for me!

  1. Strawberry Salad

This is another great salad recipe that I love to make for a salad on the sweeter side. I combine regular salad mix with cut strawberries with mozzarella cheese, walnuts, and champagne salad dressing.
