I’ve only been in the workforce for a few years, but I’ve already had my fair share of wardrobe malfunctions – the kind that eventually force you to keep a stockpile of supplies at your desk. Take it from me, keep these items at your desk to avoid the embarrassment and annoyance of wardrobe malfunctions.

Clear nail polish

No, not for touching up your manicure, but for nylon runs! If you see a tear forming, dab some clear nail polish all around the run and it won’t tear anymore.

Needle and thread

You never know when a seam will decide to rip, and it’s usually at the most inopportune time. Keep some emergency thread and a needle close-by to sew your day back together.

Super glue

I can’t even count the number of times I’ve used superglue to fix a malfunction. A purse handle, a thick cuff or seam, a pants button, the list goes on. Keeping a bottle in your drawer will come in handy more times than you’d think.

A large blanket shawl

Not only does this keep you warm, but it doubles as a cover-all when things go awry. I keep one on my chair and it has been useful for more than just warmth.

Double sided fabric tape

These are great for button up shirts that don’t stay closed between buttons or a neckline that won’t stay in place.

Safety pins

You don’t need me to tell you these will always be a staple in any wardrobe-emergency-kit.

Dryer sheets

These have 2 great uses. 1) When static cling creeps in, rub some dryer sheets on the inside of your garments and voila! No more clingy clothes. 2) Have you ever gotten to work only to find a giant deodorant streak on your black sweater? Rub it off with a dryer sheet and no more deodorant stain!

Stain remover

Available in pen form or wipe form, my fellow spillers know these will always be put to good use.

The bottom line – never let a wardrobe malfunction keep you from being the girl boss you are. Fix it up and go take on the world.
