Shopping for holiday presents doesn’t have to be hard if you think smart. Sure, some people are blessed with the gift giving gene, and some are blessed with knowing exactly what they want to ask for, but what about the people in between? What do you get someone when you’re stuck on too many options and they haven’t specifically asked for anything?

I recommend you think about their personality. As a super Type A person, I love when people get me gifts that feed into who I am. Similarly, I get a little “eh” when I get a gift that is definitely better for a Type B person. Do they even know me? Giving gifts based on “Type A” and “Type B” personalities can really challenge you to think outside the box and give a gift that will go to good use.

To clarify, the people behind “Type A” versus “Type B” don’t look as favorably on the type A people–and say we’re prone to cardiovascular disease and anger, but it’s become such a fixture of society in some ways that it’s become more than that. Being Type A is about being self-motivated, outgoing, organized, and often wanting to be in control. Type B is about being more relaxed, willing to go with the flow, more mellow. I’m not here to tell you how to live your life or which type is better, but we all know people who fit strongly in one category and not the other, so let’s start there.

For The “Type A” Personality

A Nice Pen or Marker Set

Perfect for people who keep detailed planners and lists

A Super-Smart Fitness Tracker

For the girl on the go who likes to know how far she’s gone

A Weighted Blanket

Weighted blankets are great for people who get anxious or have trouble falling asleep because their mind can’t turn off.

A Coffee Cup That “Gets” Them

Perfect for insane caffeine drinkers who can’t stop for a minute.

Ice Roller

Have a Type A friend who definitely doesn’t get enough sleep or is very worried about eye puffiness? This is a godsend gift.

For The “Type B” Personality

A Sunrise Alarm Clock

Perfect for people who like to get the most out of their sleep and don’t like to wake up to harsh alarms.

A Low-Commitment Fitness Tracker

For the person who likes exercise but isn’t necessarily super competitive about it.

A Meditation Pillow

To help them get deep into a meditative state–if that’s how they stay so calm.

A Sloth Coffee Mug

Because it’s okay to slow down! Also, sloths are adorable.

A Sheet Mask Set

Just because they’re Type B doesn’t mean they don’t have worries that can cause breakouts. But they’re probably more likely to actually sit down and use these sheet masks.
