The 2020 election season is in full swing, and here at FFL we’re excited to see that there has been a surge in Republican women running for public office. We love to celebrate conservative women in all capacities and give our readers a look at what they stand for.
The filing date for the South Carolina congressional races recently passed. There are two women running for United States Congress from the state. South Carolina will have their primary on June 9, 2020.
Here’s what you need to know:
Nancy Mace (SC-01)
Nancy Mace is a graduate from The Citadel, becoming the first woman to graduate from there. Mace talks about her experience at the Citadel in her memoir In The Company of Men: A Woman At The Citadel. She later graduated from the University of Georgia with a master’s degree in journalism and mass communication. Later, in 2008, Nancy started a small consulting business called The Mace Group, which provides public relations, marketing and web services to clients. She is the Vice Chair of The Citadel School Of Business Advisory Board. In addition, Mace served as coalitions direction and field direction for the Donald Trump 2016 presidential campaign in South Carolina between 2015 and 2016. Mace currently is a South Carolina State Representative for District 99. Nancy Mace is for lowering taxes for all, restoring the lowcountry’s economy, investing in national defense, protecting the unborn, supporting our veterans and service members, standing with Israel, and protecting our second amendment.
Kathy Landing (SC-01)
Kathy Landing enrolled at Duke University at the age of 16 and graduated by the time she was 20. After marrying her husband, she began to build her business in the lowcountry in the financial industry. Landing is a Certified Financial Planner practitioner with a Master of Science in Financial Planning. She serves as a Senior Vice President of Investments for Raymond James and Associates. Kathy is the Chair of Mount Pleasants Economic Development Committee and also serves on the Finance Committee. Kathy Landing is for lowering taxes for middle class Americans, a free market healthcare system, securing the border, limited government and limited terms of election officials, the right to bear arms, and the sanctity of life.
