To my parents as I graduate,

Thank you.

Looking back on my time in school, very little has been consistent. Through changing teachers, outgrowing friends, failed relationships, and those rough teenage years, you are the one thing that has remained constant in my life. In a time where everything was changing, you were an ever present help in all of my times of need. For that, I cannot thank you enough.

As I’m about to graduate college, I know it’s probably scary for you to think you’re going to lose your little girl. Even though it is time for me to spread my wings and fly, you don’t need to worry. I can assure you that the saying is true, “a daughter is a daughter for her entire life.” I cannot imagine my life without your daily phone calls, advice, and constant support. You will always be two of the most important and impactful people in my life no matter how old I am, or how far I go.

Looking back, I realize the sacrifices you’ve made through every step of my life. You work tirelessly to give me everything I could have ever needed or wanted. From countless instruments to show choir, and now pursuing higher education, you have always stood behind me and supported every decision I’ve made. You’ve stood by me as I pursued my dreams. No matter how many times I thought about changing my major, or debated if graduate school was right for me, you always offered wisdom and life experience to guide me. When the path was unclear you encouraged me to keep moving and soldier on. When things were difficult, you offered a helping hand and support, and never wavered.

Your constant love has been the thing that’s given me the strength and courage to find my voice. I have become the person the Lord has called me to be. No matter what I strive for or what obstacles I’ve faced you’ve always supported me in prayer and faith, and that has made all the difference.

You are more than just my parents. You’re my shoulders to cry on, best friends, and confidants. That will never change. You’ve loved me through some of my fiercest storms, lowest valleys, and greatest triumphs. Through the times when I didn’t believe in myself, you believed in me. You gave me the strength to keep going.

I truly would not be the person I am today without your love, support, encouragement, and sacrifice. I am grateful that the Lord saw fit to put me in your family, and blessed to call you my parents. Words will never be able to express how thankful I am that you have supported all of my crazy ideas and passions. You have shown me unconditional, unwavering love.

Thank you for helping me become the woman I’m supposed to be. Thanks for showing me the importance of passion, dedication, and work ethic. Thank you for protecting, encouraging, and believing in me. In short, thank you for everything.

Sincerely,

Your forever blessed and grateful daughter
