President-Elect Donald Trump has now won the electoral college, and he continues to fill up his cabinet. One of his latest picks is Linda McMahon to run the Small Business Administration.
“My America First agenda is going to bring back our jobs and roll back the burdensome regulations that are hurting our middle class workers and small businesses. To help push our agenda forward, I am pleased to nominate Linda McMahon as the head of the Small Business Administration,” said Trump when announcing McMahon’s appointment.
Furthermore, Trump added, “Linda has a tremendous background and is widely recognized as one of the country’s top female executives advising businesses around the globe,” Linda is going to be a phenomenal leader and champion for small businesses and unleash America’s entrepreneurial spirit all across the country.”
According to its website, the Small Business Administration was The U.S. “ created in 1953 as an independent agency of the federal government to aid, counsel, assist and protect the interests of small business concerns, to preserve free competitive enterprise and to maintain and strengthen the overall economy of our nation. We recognize that small business is critical to our economic recovery and strength, to building America’s future, and to helping the United States compete in today’s global marketplace.” The current SBA Administrator is Maria Contreras-Sweet, who was appointed by President Obama in April of 2014.

She is the former CEO of WWE, World Wrestling Entertainment, founded by herself and her husband, Vince.

WWE started as a 13 person small business and has grown to a become a worldwide enterprise with more than 800 employees.

She has run for Senate in Connecticut twice, representing the Republican party in 2010 and 2012.

Initially in the 2016 race, she supported Chris Christie, the Governor of New Jersey.

She has been critical of Trump’s comments about women, once even calling them deplorable.

Currently, she oversees Women’s Leadership LIVE, a company that promotes “leadership opportunities for women in business, public service and other careers through conferences, mentoring and eventually small investments in women-owned enterprises.”

Some of her roles in charitable organizations include President of the Advisory Board for Operation Helmet, which provides comfortable and protective helmet pads for US combat troops, and American Corporate Partners, which pairs returning veterans with mentors in the work force.
