Every young conservative woman knows that a closet staple is FFL’s elephant dress or skirt. Once you’ve pulled yours off the hanger, here are a few adorable ways to style it.

You can easily transform this comfy cotton staple to a workwear piece with a few accessories. Try pairing it with a dark blazer, like navy or black, and a simple set of pearls.
As a makeshift peplum
I have to admit, this is not an original idea. I saw a young lady effortlessly pull of this style at Turning Point USA’s 2017 Young Women’s Leadership Summit, and I could not have loved it more. When you have a killer pencil skirt you’d love to pair with your elephant dress, try tucking in the middle part of your dress into the skirt, with the ends hanging out the top. Wrap a belt around your waistline, and ta-da! You have a peplum top.

Why not wear your inner cowgirl on your sleeve for a day, and try pairing your elephants with a pair of cowgirl boots?
Cold in the winter? Try some tights

When cold winter days get you down, throw on a pair of tights or leggings with your boots to beat the snow, while still showing off your colorful personality.
Try a button-down

Another great way to dress up an elephant skirt is with a button down shirt. Try white for a classic look, or a chambray denim shirt to add some western flair to your outfit.
Dress it down
As comfy as this dress is, my go-to way to style it is dressing it down for an effortlessly casual look. Try a pair of converse sneakers and a baseball cap or a messy bun when you want to throw on your dress and head straight to your 8-AM’s.

Never let chilly days or too-cold classrooms prevent you from embracing your conservatism! On Election Day 2016, I paired the elephant dress with a pullover sweater and booties; a great way to stay warm and show some pride.

Mix those patterns
Whoever said mixing patterns was a fashion faux-pas is severely mistaken in my world. Have some fun choosing patterns that may change the elephant look in the most adorable ways, from gingham to stripes.

I believe we all have a favorite U.S. President whose campaign t-shirts are stashed away deep in our closets. Bring it back out and tuck it into your elephant skirt for an extra cute activist look.
