2017 has begun. The future is looking bright for conservatives. Whether you hopped on the #TrumpTrain this election season or you were a #NeverTrump Republican, the conservative movement has plenty to look forward to this year. Here are seventeen reasons you should be pumped for 2017:

  1. We will have a Republican President, Senate, and HouseThe last time Republicans controlled the Presidency, Senate, and House was from 2003 to 2005.

  2. A conservative Supreme Court Justice will be appointed. Donald Trumps victory ensures a conservative majority on the Supreme Court. So far, there are 21 individuals being taken into consideration.

  3. We won’t have to worry about the federal minimum wage being raised to 12 or even 15 dollars. While a higher wage might sound good, inflation sure doesn’t. Businesses would compensate for a higher wage demand by increasing their prices and laying off workers. According to the Manhattan Institute for Policy Research, raising the minimum wage to 12 dollars would affect 38.3 million low wage workers and 3.8 million jobs.

  4. Obamacare will be repealed. The “Affordable” Care Act has been so disastrous, even Democratic leaders have acknowledged that it has made health care unaffordable for many as premiums have skyrocketed. Arizona was the hardest hit. Premiums there have increased by a whopping 116 percent.

  5. We will have more protections for the unborn. Trump has promised to sign the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act into law, banning late term abortions. In addition, he wants to defund Planned Parenthood as long as they continue to perform abortions, and make the Hyde Amendment permanent to protect taxpayers from having to pay for abortions.

  6. The United States will once again stand with IsraelWhile Obama’s actions have made it clear that he is no friend of Israel, Donald Trump’s actions as President will likely reflect the opposite. He recently stated on Twitter, “We cannot continue to let Israel be treated  with such total disdain and disrespect. They used to have a great friend in the U.S., but not anymore. The beginning of the end was the horrible Iran deal, and now this (U.N.)! Stay strong Israel, January 20th is fast approaching!” In response, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu tweeted back, “President-elect Trump, thank you for warm friendship and your clear cut support for Israel!”

  7. The Democrats won’t be able to chip away at our religious freedom. A sweeping Democratic victory on November 8th could have lead to legislation forcing taxpayers to pay for abortion, forcing religious organizations to provide services that violate their beliefs, and even forcing churches to refrain from teaching what the Bible says about homosexuality.

  8. A secure border will be in the works. While a secure border may not come as soon as 2017, it will be in progress. Furthermore, Trump has stated that Mexico will pay for the wall.

  9. There will be reduced pressure to be politically correct. Hopefully, social justice warriors will back down a little once they realize that calls for censorship, such as banning conservative speakers from college campuses, have not helped their cause. If anything, Trump’s sweeping victory has shown that most of America is fed up with PC culture.

  10. Republicans will repeal Obama’s excessive regulations. Sean Spicer, one of Trump’s top aides, told CNN that Trump will “repeal a lot of the regulations and actions that have been taken by this administration over the last eight years that have hampered both economic growth and job creation.”

  11. We will fight poverty the right way This past June, Paul Ryan released an agenda to fight poverty by reforming the current welfare system so that it will better match individual needs and no longer punish hard work.

  12. CPAC is going to be amazing.

  13. Our Second Amendment will be protected. Before the election, fear of restrictive gun laws was driving up gun sales. With a Republican Presidency, House, and Senate, gun owners no longer have to be fearful. In addition, Trump intends to work with state and local governments to repeal gun-free zones which are targets for mass shooters. According to the Crime Prevention Research Center, over 90 percent of mass shootings occur in gun free zones.

  14. Less taxes. Trump plans to cut taxes across the board so that individuals will have more control over how their money is spent.

  15. We will get tough on terrorism. Unlike Obama, Republicans understand that ISIS is not a “JV team” and is not to be underestimated.

  16. The comfort of knowing that Hillary won’t go down in history as our first female president I am excited to having a female president one day. But Hillary Clinton, a woman who has lied and cheated her way through her career, is unworthy of that title. Hopefully our first female president will be someone like Condoleezza Rice, Nikki Haley, or Joni Ernst.
