Every girl boss should have a motivational playlist ready to go whether she’s working out at the gym, getting ready in the morning, psyching herself up to study for a test, or working on a big project. Here are five songs every girl boss should have in her motivational playlist, in no particular order.

UnStoppable – Sia

The music in this one isn’t a super hype kind of beat, but the lyrics are incredibly motivational, making this song one that should be in every #GirlBoss’s playlist. There are two parts of the lyrics that I especially love. First, there is a part that says “I’m unstoppable, I’m a Porsche with no brakes…I’m so powerful, I don’t need batteries to play.” My other favorite part is a bridge which says “I’ll put on my amour, I’ll show you how strong I am.” While this is not what Sia intended to reference here, this part makes me think of Ephesians 6:11-17 which talks about the armor of God. It makes me think about how strong we are when we put on the armor of God and, like in Matthew 19:26, I’m reminded that “…with God everything is possible.”

I’m On My Way – Kelli Pickler

I love this song because it not only motivates you to not give up on your dreams, but it reminds you to look behind you and see how far you have come from the day you decided to pursue those dreams. One of my favorite lines from this songs say is “…Now look how far I’ve come from, From the back of an endless line…” Yet, while the song encourages, you with how far you have come, it also motivates you for the road ahead. My other favorite line in this song says. “No I don’t give up easy I’ve got many miles to go, but I can’t wait to get to, what I see down this road…I’m not there yet, but I know I’m on my way.” I love this song because it simultaneously motivates you for the journey ahead, while also reminding you not to give up, you’ve come so far.

Outlaw – Fridg featuring Bell

Both the music and the lyrics in this song are super motivational. The beat alone is very hype and, when paired with the lyrics, makes for a song that should be definitely be in your playlist. One of my favorite parts of the song says “no matter what you say, I’m gonna go my way,” reminding us, that most people won’t understand why we do the things we do, but it doesn’t matter. You can’t let what people think stop you from chasing your dreams.

Shake it Out – Florence & The Machine

The beat isn’t super hype, it’s the lyrics that you really need to listen to. One of my favorite lines in the song is where it says “I like to keep some things to myself.” Not everyone needs to know everything. Stay silent and let your success speak for you.

Rise Up – Andra Day

This is the song to listen to after you get knocked down hard by life, and your still laying there in the dirt, trying to find the will to get up and move on. Life will knock you down hard. It will happen over and over again. This song reminds you to get up and move on, to rise like a phoenix from the ashes.
