Way back in the early 90s, Ronald Reagan sent Rush Limbaugh a letter letting him know that he believes he is the #1 voice for conservatism in our country- And that says a lot coming from someone so highly regarded in politics as Reagan. In the world of conservative politics few people have done more to spread the conservative message than Rush Limbaugh. He has received countless awards for his commentary including personality of the year, man of the year, and even one of America’s top ten most fascinating people of 2008 by Barbara Walters. While he is one of the most controversial talk show hosts of all time, there is much more to him than just his outspoken views and his neck ties.

Politics aside, he is involved in a lot charity work. He holds an annual fundraising telethon called the EIB cure-a-thon which helps the Leukemia & Lymphoma society. Each year he contributes hundreds of thousands of his own money to the charity. In 2008, he donated $400,000 after being challenged by his listeners to up his donation.

According to Forbes.com “Conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh ranked fourth on the Most Generous Celebrities List by donating $4.2 million, or approximately 13% of the $33 million he earned last year, to the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation, a charity that helps support the children of Marines or federal law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty.”

Rush Limbaugh definitely isn’t afraid to put his money where his mouth is. And because of that he deserves some recognition …. Which is why he is FFL’s Monthly Conservative Man for the month of October!
