College is weird. In four years, we are supposed to soak up a bunch of knowledge, find out more about ourselves, the world around us and all while deciding what it is we want to do career wise for the rest of our lives.

It is the absolute best time in your life, but simultaneously the most challenging experience you’ve endured so far. Whether you’re getting ready for your first year, or returning for another go at it this Fall, we can all agree that it’s a time where you’re not quite sure of what the future will hold.

You’ve probably considered changing your major ten times, taken classes that you’ve struggled your way through and have wrestled with many sleepless nights over things that, if we’re completely honest, really won’t matter in the future.

At times it can feel like the weight of the world is on your shoulders when trying to maintain the perfect GPA, find time to exercise, sleep for those recommended 8 hours, eat healthy, balance a social life, work/intern, add extracurricular to your resume, be there for those back home and more. Personally I dread the question, “So what are you doing after college?” I start to worry about my future and it hits me that I don’t have it all together.

But guess what?

That is okay and completely normal.

When you are worried about what your future holds, know that God has it all figured out. Here are a couple of bible verses that bring me comfort in the fact of knowing that when all else fails, He has got my back:

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Matthew 6:34

“Do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear.  Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes.  Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap; they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds!  Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?  Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?” Luke 12:22-26

“Be strong and courageous.  Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6

“And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love.” Romans 8:38-39

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6

“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Exodus 14:14

“You are precious in my eyes and honored and I love you.” Isaiah 43:4

Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.” Isaiah 43:1

Whenever you feel like it is all crashing onto you, remember He loves you. He created you because you are here to fulfill a purpose only you can achieve. There is no one on this earth with the same purpose and that makes you uniquely special. You are strong, capable and no matter what happens He will always be there for you. There could never be a stronger and deeper love for you. What better comfort is there than that?
