The 2006 classic can teach us plenty of different lessons. Fashion, high stakes, relationships. Growing up can be difficult, but stand your ground and know your place. You’ll be fine — even if you have an extremely tough boss.

Your first job may not have been your dream job, but you still have to work hard and do your best.

Andy wanted to be a journalist, but nowhere wanted her. Emily even said that if you work a year with Miranda, you could get a job at any magazine. So if your first job isn’t all you dreamed of, remember that it is only a stepping-stone in your career’s journey. Work hard. Even if it’s not what you want to do.

Florals, in spring, are definitely groundbreaking.

It can be lonely at the top.

Miranda has been through her fair share of divorces. Sometimes, success means dedicating your life to work. It’s not true in all cases, but it definitely is in Miranda’s. Find yourself a tribe and love them hard.

Don’t be afraid to ask for help if you need it.

Maybe not everyone is willing to help, but there is always someone.

You have connections. Use them.

Even if it seems impossible, you have connections. Use those connections!

Sometimes you can’t do everything your boss wants you to, and that’s fine, as long as you try your best.

They may be unhappy about it, but sometimes they may be asking a little too much of you…you know, like getting a flight home during a hurricane.

Only eating when you feel like you’re going to faint probably isn’t the smartest diet.

Take care of your body and stay healthy.

There are always hundreds of people who would kill to have your job, be mindful of that.

Andy is told by nearly everyone that a million girls would kill to be in her position.  She didn’t understand this at first, but she definitely did by the end,

Your co-worker may not be your instant BFF or even a friend, and that’s okay. You still have to work together.

The truth hurts, but sometimes it is what you need to hear.

Nigel tells it like it is. If I could pick anyone to be my mentor, it would definitely be Nigel.

Don’t throw your phone in a fountain when you’re across the world, in a foreign country, and you know absolutely no one.

Granted, 2006 was a bit different than 2020. But still! I am sure that all her flight info was on that phone, or at the very least the confirmation number. I mean come on, you know no one where you are, and you’re what? Like 22? Yeah, I don’t think so. Don’t be Andy.

Don’t go back to your ex who broke up with you because your career was taking off.

Seriously, what a stupid move. He had a major ego problem and couldn’t stand that Andy’s career was taking off and his wasn’t. He couldn’t handle that her attention was not completely on him anymore. In fact, all her friends were awful. Yes, Andy changed. She became more confident and assured of her place in the world. Her boyfriend should be happy for her and not turn things around to make it about him.
